WOW - I think a funeral march is in order for some Kenmores...

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Been working on the scrap yard angle - we don't have a lot of controls on them here as some of the other AW.org members do in their states, but hopefully tomorrow I can call around to some yards and inquire, see if I can jog any operator's memories.

Thanks again everyone. I am still astonished that the trailer is gutted empty - the initial shock was remarkable. On the other hand, with the exception of about 8 machines, I am ok with them being gone I suppose. It's not like I have a choice in the matter anyway at this point. Just so glad I had fun with them back in July, and that I got the four additional machines off that I did.

Kenny -

Should you be picking up BDs again? Well - maybe, LOL. Something intriguing and potentially appreciated by me, SURE! I think you know what I like now - it's not like you're going to come across two more 65 LKs and a 66 LK today, but you never know. Maybe eventually I can replace each of the 8 machines that I valued with something similar that I wouldn't otherwise take. Then I'll be back level. I am still looking for a 1972 Kenmore. One showed up on Charlotte's Craigslist about two weeks ago but I missed it. If anyone sees something similar to this, I'd love it.

Sorry about the loss of your Kenmore's Gordon! What dirty m-f's would do something like that?? They must be very hungry...

If there is any good thing to come from what those lousy marauders did, it is that you do have the chance to collect washers on which you would most likely have had to pass due to space limitations. You had some fun out in Phoenix a few months ago, now you can bring that fun home!

I'm glad I spoke with you last night. We've had many a phone conversation about these washers, how you acquired them, the features they had and what they had to offer, and their issues. I really got to know your collection. As I told you, I felt like a dagger was shoved in my chest when I first opened this thread, especially when looking at the photo of those machines knowing they were gone. Although my favorite ones (the 1970 500 models) are gone, I am glad you did hang on to the ones you pulled out this summer. The 1964 Model 70 in Coppertone is a rare find, and I am glad you have it. Also that 1961 70 series with the plastic top that you are designating as the 1961.5 was a great save, and although you brought her out many months before, there is the simple beauty that is Annie. I am very glad you got her out of there.

One thing I am sure of is that you will fill up that trailer with another set of classics. Maybe not as full as it was, but I know you have several beauties coming your way so it won't be long before we see a few rows of washers lined up in there.

Have a good one,
James

What a shame.

Gordon, I am so sorry to hear about this. It's a disgrace, that there are some people out there that don't know the difference of what's mine and thine. Those classic Kenmores were beautiful. Launderess, and the others are right about reporting this to the police, because not only will they be watching the scrap yards, but also monitor E-Bay, and Craig's List. Should there be an increase in hard to find Kenmore parts, maybe the police could trace them to their location.
I wish you the best in finding your machines, or replacements. Take care, have a nice day, and may God bless you.
