Holy buckets

Let me say this simply.

There are no words that can express the complete amazingness of this machine.

It is simply far to good, that I must be dreaming right now. ]

I can say that I have never seen a home appliance, even if brand new, look so incredible now.

Thats got to be the best looking old washing machine I have ever seen. A restoration couldn't make a machine look that good. Thats first rate pure originality.

Most excellent find. Congratulations on a FINE historic washing machine! Keep it forever! Dont overuse it, I would say, Try and keep it as perfect as possible! Its only got 1 life! And so far its life has been extremely good!

Again, what an awesome find.

ooOOOooo

I see you did restore it in a way, to clean it up. But still its just incredible how it turned out.

John - thanks for posting. The gas version from Kim certainly was worth the effort. Looks beautiful, but for most 100 hours doesn't mean much until you put the sweat equity into it yourself.

This post is a gentle reminder that a certain Bendix combo is waiting for attention in the basement. If only the diffuser had not cracked in shipping........

Mint!

As always, the machines you restore are every bit as nice as new, and likely better than new in many ways. I can only imagine how fun the first load was - never used before. Was there any of the new-washer smell left?

(When Jon sees this he's gonna want one!)

New Washer Smell

Oddly, now that you mentioned it there is a new smell to the machine.Maybe from all the paint. All the secondary parts in the machine had to have surface rust removed and painted.Bendix did not use a primer on anything except the cabinet.Parts repainted-All timer brackets, inner cabinet,Back covers,Shocks,All springs,Burner Mount,Etc...Etc...The paint is better than factory now.And as always,There are many things I did to the machine to improve it.Many times areas where there is to be porcelain there is not and those areas need to be touched up.And I had the chance because I had the tub back off.Clutch system was totally cleaned polished and greased,Timer motors checked cleaned and re-oiled,Refelt and oil motor.you name it I did it. Not one inch untouched.Kim helped me take it apart. That made it a lot easier to deal with when we got home.Because I had to take it apart anyway.Kim is a Great guy! He has a wonderful place and lots of fun stuff to look at.We had a great time.We wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks again Kim.

Wow!

I can't get over how wonderful your Bendix looks! I also love the fact that it is gas! Thank you for the inner shots! I just love the burner shot! I find that gas appliances from this period are so rare! Those you are able to find are just toast.
I am sure that you will have so much fun with this machine! It turned out awesome!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to post your pictures!
Made my night!

I keep looking at the pictures in Awe!

Just curious,
It is a standing pilot light?
Also it is rated at 19,000 BTU's. It seems like the BTU's would be higher with that huge cast iron burner.
How is it with the drying time?
Thanks again.
Brent

And Yet Another Question....

Just curious....
Does the burner flame slowly get less intense as the drum reaches it's target temperature? Or does the burner cycle on and off?
Sorry for all of the questions.
Brent

Absolutely stunning.

I have never seen such a fabulously busy cycle selection command center than that! It looks like you could pull down all the tabs and prepare for takeoff!

Oh John

words failed me when I saw the blue flame on the burner! What a shot!!

Its absolutely georgeous from stem to stern, can't wait to see it in person!

How does the drying time compare to our electrics?? And do you see much lint on the filter at the end?

My 58 just threw its capacitor so I just installed a new one, and was humming about repainting the floor pan, after seeing this I am definitely hauling out the floor pan tomorrow and repainting.

What did you mean by polishing and greasing the clutch?? You mean inside the tranny? The tranny sits in oil.

John, Totally awesome!! That machine just takes your breath away!! Thanks so much for sharing all of those great pictures.

OMG John, that Duomatic is absolutely gorgeous, I can't wait to see it sometime!!! Congratulations, I can imagine how happy you are to have it.
