I know, and the thing is, he might actually get what he's asking. That thing is gorgeous, and is unbelievable when it comes to slow cooking and frying, it's tempature control is dead on and holds the tempature. It's much faster with boiling water (for pasta, etc) than the stove.

When slow cooking meals, you can't beat it because you can set the tempature EXACTLY where you want it.

i seen one of these....

at the 2nd handstore one time, and i really liked it. i plugged it in and i loved the orange light that came on, when you turned the temperature dial up.

the pot heated up quickly and it got HOT. but the problem was, so did the power cord. the electrical cord got so hot that i could only touch it for about 5 seconds before it started to burn me, to unplug it from the power strip.

so, it was pretty with it's orange light, and it definitely got HOT, but that hot power cord seemed like it made it unsafe. so i passed on it.

the good thing is that i bought one at another 2nd handstore, but it is a jcpenneys brand. but it's the same color of orange as some of my sears pots & pan. and this one also came with a ceramic crockpot insert too, it say's for making beans.

anyways, that's my story.....

;o)

The problem was that it was plugged into a power strip. This thing draws 1300 watts in operation, and there's warnings on it saying to use with baseboard/wall outlet only. The matching Sunbeam waffle iron(CG-1) also has the same warning.

gorgeous unit

Hope someone on the AW site grabs this. I have one that was my mom's that I got when she passed away. I love it. Great temperature control. When I was little my mome made great deep fried chicken and french fries in it. Amazing how something can still work perfectly after sixty two years without repair. Even the original bulb that back lights the temperature indicator still works. I can't imagine too many things made today that will still work like they were new 60 years from now.

I have the original instruction manual and it has recipes for many good things--including deep fried popcorn.

There can't be too many NOS units out there anymore.
