Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

That highest speed is wonderful for keeping sheets from rolling up during drying. Without the three speeds, sheets can be kept from rolling up by drying them when the lint screen is full. What happens is that the sheets tend to get sucked against the exhaust grill and start to tangle. If the air stream force is reduced by a full lint screen, the sheets are not pulled against the grill and they have less propensity to tangle unless they are overdried in which case they will roll up anyway. The highest tumble speed holds the sheets against circumference of the drum and does not give them the chance to get pulled against the grill. I mostly just put one sheet in its own dryer, the pillow cases in with the flat sheet.

Technically I have a 2 speed 1963 RCA Whirlpool Imperial dryer but unfortunately the belt shifter is broken on mine and doesn’t change the air output but it does step the wattage down to 4500 watts and it seems to have a better cool-down when using the normal speed drying temperature on the Wash N Wear cycle.

Yup it’s the matching washer. Has the Whirlpool indentation in the front and the drain hose is draped over it. It’s either already sold or it doesn’t work and is possibly going to be scrapped. Good luck with the response as that looks like a nice low mileage set judging from the dryer pics.

Console pic from ad.

9920 would be an Imperial Mark XII (if the dryer is labeled as such) with pushbuttons for temperature, and electronic sensor so maybe one auto-dry cycle instead of separate Regular & PP, and Finish Guard anti-wrinkle function.
