WP appliances at Kmart

noticed my local Kmart just started selling appliances-whirlpool washers,dryers
refrigerators and freezers;they had on display one of the new design agitator
washers,matching dryer,a basic top freezer fridge,and two small chest freezers-
the small freezers looked imported.
last time i saw appliances at kmart was around 1980 or 81,GE back then.

I remember seeing Whirlpool appliances at a KMart in Cincinnati back in the early 70's. Also remember GE there.

I had neighbors who bought their first house in like 1976 or 1977.  they got their WP washer & dryer as well as Frigidaire fridge from Kmart, all in wonderful harvest gold.

Kmart in New York , and CT have been selling appliances for quite a while now. I have seen WP, GE and Kenmore at Kmart.

This thread got me wondering has anyone ever seen major appliances being sold at WalMart... other than air conditioners. I haven't. I'm surprised they don't sell even a limited selection.

Yes they dfid a study on selling major appliances fron washers dryers to gas and electric cook stoves to refrigerators and freezers at our WalMart Super Center. about 4 years ago. Theyt had GE/Hotpoint and Frigidaire. They seemed to sell well but was taken out after 2 year trial. I think they also did this at a few more stores. We are Store 4 and close to the corporate so always are used for testing.

Back to KMart I remember they also carred Maytag washers and dryers back in the early 60's. Saw them at a stores grand opening in Amarilo, Texas when we were visiting my sister and and her husband. I thinkthey also had Whirlpool appliances then also. The neat thing to go to that opening was we had to have tickets to get in as it was Sunday and back then Texas still had the big Blue Laws and hadrly anything ws open Sunday other than resturants.

I don't recollect our KMart selling major appliances, Woolco back in their day had a very small limited selection

I remember Kmart appliances. They were usually a bit "lower end" models that looked different from their "A"-store siblings. Ours had GE, Whirlpool and GM Frigidaire & Hoover. Limited selection of models were offered in the stores but they also had catalogs of others that could be ordered.

KMART GE Washers

I actually like the style of these machines' a lot, simple and with flexibility still. The coloring is nice too.
