There is nothing new about this POS. For instance, new dryers don’t come with paper signs taped to the door instructing the user to clean the lint filter, nor do they come with this excessive patina of filth. Also, I owned one exactly like this of about 5 years, there is no way this dryer runs on 220v. Although, whats up with the 220v dryer cord draped over the top? Just for show? This doesn’t compute Will Robinson.

Whirlpool at one time did make a 240 volt portable dryer that was stationary. My great aunt had one. I think the heater wattage was something like 3000 watts. They also made a gas version as well. Why they stopped making the higher voltage machines , I don’t know.
It may have been in a box... just don't wanna know where! I love how folks on craigslist think that anything they say will be taken as the gospel truth. UGH!

Well, I stand corrected. I had no idea that WP made a portable dryer that ran on 220/240v. That would kind of take the portable aspect out of the equation. But, I learn something new everyday! The one I owned took about an hour to dry the average full load, but being able to plug it in anywhere was sure a plus.

LFE4930 WP Compact dryer
Was a very popular model, we still have two rebuilt ones here in almond and a few gas ones as well.
For the record this dryer is listed at 208/120 or 240/120 volts, the heating element is 3,200 watts @ 240 volts and 2,600 watts @ 208 volts.
WP raised the heater wattage to 3,600 when the BD compact compact washers were discontinued in 1986 so the drying speed would not be impacted to much when the slower spinning DD washers replaced the BD compacts.
This dryer was still available till just a few years ago and is still available in a 120 volt version and in 240 and gas versions as part of WPs 24" thin-twins.
