OMG
Hi Don! Congrats on this amazing acquisition! What a gorgeous set!
Our neighbors had this set when I was a kid. They bought it when they moved into their newly-built house. They also had a 1953 Kenmore with the controls on the front of the cabinet that they kept when they got the new set. I was amazed someone would have two automatic washing machines. Many folks had an older wringer washer still around when they got an automatic (we did) but I didn't know anyone else with two working automatic washers.
These neighbors had a kid my age so we were always over there playing in the basement and I got to know these machines very well. Loved the waterfall lint filter. With the exception of bleach and fabric softener dispensers, these models had it all. I didn't fully appreciate their flexibility as a kid, but do now. For example, the speeds were controlled by the cycle selected, but with the separate agitation control you can get a slow agitate/fast spin combination on the normal cycle, or slow/slow on the wash n wear cycle.
I always thought these were stunning machines and was breathless (like Laundress) when you opened the boxes in your photos. What a trip down memory lane! Thanks for sharing!
