Hi guys,

I am in the process of moving and am clearing out some things. I few years ago, I bought this yellow Maytag washer and electric dryer with the intention of restoring them, but never have.

The tops are in good shape, while the cabinets are faded. The chrome on the console on the washer has some pitting, the dryer looks nice. The tub shows wear. I intended to repaint them and find another tub, but I really don't need this set and my turquoise set that's almost alike.

I paid too much for these and had them shipped from sunny California! I am asking for $600. They're in St. Louis. If you want a cheerful set and can't get into pink, here they are!

I haven't done anything to either of them. I don't have water where they're at to attempt to test. I would expect them to need belts, hoses, and a pump at least.

Kevin, do you have Tags in Yellow Yet ???

Eddie, did you mean me?

If you do.... how soon you forget....  (must be the excitement of the restaurant shutting down for the winter?)

(HUGS!)

Kevin

P.S.... Travis, what is the 2 letter code at the end of the serial # for the washer & dryer please?   Thanks!

Very nice set Travis! Hope someone grab these to restore. They would make a beautiful set, if the lower cabinets were repainted. Not as many yellow cabinets around as the pink ones. Would make a rare set to own.

DirectDriveDave's question about dryer doors

Hi Dave!

Hi Dave!

I see you're a fellow Long Islander, and I was about to give-up hope of finding another "neighbor" to relate to. While I don't have a valid answer to your question about the small dryer doors, I can tell you Norge had the biggest openings in the 50's. Actually/maybe I DO have a theory about the designs! I know as a fact, that the Maytag dryers had solid drums, and their heat source in the front, pulled through the back lint filter out the exhaust. There needed to be an area around the drum's front circumference wide enough to allow for the placement of the holes for the heat to get through. If the "ring" around the drum were narrower, to allow for a wider-opening door, then the heat wouldn't have an outlet to get through. Remember, we're talking about OLD machines around my age or newer. Those old dryers were very wide and bulky also! If you'd like to "chat", contact me by my email in my profile.
