You Have To See This To Believe It !!!......................

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

This auction was on here a couple of weeks ago, the opening bid was $250,000. No bidders so I guess they are trying again.

Jimmy get your checkbook ready!

You Need this stuff! all you need now is a big building to put it in LOL

$7,000 really would be a fair bid on this collection, but lord only knows what the reserve would be......It would cost more than that just in moving and storage fees! But it sure is a nice collection,,,,,,,I admire how clean and neat everything is.......unlike a lot of "collectors" that just throw everything in a warehouse or stack and call it a collection...... That aqua GE range from 1955 is fabulous, and so are some of the appliance ephemera that are on display...........
HEY RICH!!! Lets go to the auction, its not that far from us.....we could come home with all the washers they didnt show!

Not to rain on the seller's parade, but think this auction violates eBay's TOS. If one understands correctly, the huge opening bid is nothing more than to keep anyone from buying the lot for that amount. Entire listing is nothing more than "free" advertising for an auction taking place next weekend.

They have no shame some people. It would be interesting if someone called the man's bluff and bid up to and at the reserve, just to see what he does. If nothing else he would be on the hook to eBay for fees and their cut.

It would be wonderful if some folks from this group who are in/near PA could save some of these things...it really is an extraordinary collection, what a shame if the majority went to the crusher.

auction

I think it would be fun to go to see everything in person (even if you don't buy anything). I wonder if there will be a large crowd ?

Cool to see, even if a violation has occurred

Jimmy,

Thanks for the link. What a treasure trove! I think I even saw a P7 GE range/oven. If you go, I hope you get some cool stuff.

Aside from the negative comments about the auction......

It would be great to go just to see the appliance toys, banners, and other advertising items shown in the listing.......and also to find out how such a large collection came to be........surely its someone who truly loved appliances.......

This is the kind of auction collectors and resellers go for inventory. That red Chambers range probably will be snapped up by one of the vintage range shops. There is also lots of Hall stuff which does well in some markets.

By the way, did anyone see the vintage telephones up for grabs as well?

Judging by the fact most of the appliances are cooking or cooling related, have a hunch washing machines and dryers weren't on the person or persons idea of inventory. That or they were sold off to people who wanted/needed them.

IIRC Franklin, PA and the nearby part of Ohio are farm country. Which would explain lots of old ranges and fridges. As for the other appliance related things, am willing to bet they came from either a collector or one or more appliance store's clearance inventory.

Shame we really can't develop a network to spy and or hunt down old out of the way appliance shops that are closing or estate selling off inventory for the heirs. The United States is so vast and there are still a few such places out there, however the heirs and or persons dealing with the estate all probably figure no one wants this "old junk" and chucks the lot into the rubbish.

It really is an amazing collection!
I wonder what the story is behind it all?
I think $7,000 - 15,000 would be a good for this collection. If you had the time to sell each piece separate, it would bring much more.
I don't want it!
I can think of a few things that I did see that I would love, but they would just end up in storage for now....

Hi Jimmy,
Thanks for the invite. I don't need anything right now, but I agree with you, I know it would be tons of fun.
It is great that you are going! Can't wait to see and hear about what you find!

Actually...

(If I understand the seller correctly) The listing is a fake listing and you CAN NOT buy the entire collection for $7,000. Instead, he is posting it so people can be alerted that on May 31st, he is having a Separate On-Site Auction for each individual piece!!!
