You occasionally hear about those rare "barn finds" right? Well... guess what?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I've know about it for a few days as Kevin had emailed m

2nd one known to exists, congrats again Kevin!!! I knew once one turned up another one would follow sooner than later. This is a great machine, so stable and quiet and super gentle on the clothes. I love mine, if I could only have a few machines, this one would be one of them.

Perhaps mice in the machine?

That's what I thought too Allen, but the only way into the outer tub would be between the top of the wash basket and the... entry shoot?   Plus there would be no way for them to get up and out if they were in the bottom of the outer tub.

That's a very nice find! Congrats Kevin!

I've been wondering since I've seen videos of Robert's machine, what's the capacity of these? The tub looks very shallow on pictures. Maybe it's an optical illusion... If you need to remove it, I'd really like if you could take a picture of it from the side before reassembly!

WOW!

Kevin, I can't believe that you found an Apex!! There has to be a special place in 'Appliance Heaven' waiting for you for saving such a rare machine. This is going to be a beauty of a machine - what a huge difference just cleaning it has made. I'll be watching for more... Congratulations!!

I've been wondering.... what's the capacity of thes

According to the owners manual I just downloaded from "Ephemera" today, "Wash action is best when not over eight pounds is loaded at one time"

Thank you again!   I STILL can't believe it!   Maybe I'm in shock because it still hasn't sunk in yet!

Unknown part

Congrats Kevin on a really great find! Indeed this is "rareness" to the extreme! I hope you have many years of fun with this very unique machine. The part you asked about looks like it might be a cover or insert of some sort that goes in/over the drain outlet (or some other outlet in the outer tub)? Good luck & looking forward to more pictures.

Very nice Kevin.  Robert if you see this, what load of items do you usually wash at one time.  CR stated they are stingy with hot water. nice to see another one in the club.  alr

Congrats Kevin

A very rare find up to now, but this is a good omen for all of us. In Astronomy there is a rule of thumb - when you find one of something that means its rare in the 'Verse but when you find two of something well then that means there are many in the 'Verse. So this is a great and important find, now we all have to get looking.

Apex 6000 with jiggamatic action! It may still work. That towel was obviously jiggajumped out of the tub and that was maybe what kicked it out of the house. OR

Maybe they bought a bigger capacity machine and that one went to the barn to wash Horse Blankets like the Control Tower!

A California machine will have low rust through too!!

Amazing, amazing find Kevin!  I will echo John's thoughts - I'm so glad the owner's decided to seek out someone who would appreciate it instead of just scrapping it.  I cannot wait to see the progress shots and details.

Even more of a reason now to come out to Cali... :)

(referencing the ad): .....or you can leave it in a barn, for a blue truck to rescue it decades later....

...so, the orange juicer basket(swirly) was so interesting to me, I found the attached ad , touting "spiral dasher" action. Then I found the video of this washer in action - everyone who either cares or don't care should watch this unique machine as it boths shakes and turns the clothes over so efficiently. Someone commented in that video that it would be hard on clothes, but during the 50's most people (like my dad) worked in factories or around cars, tool and die, etc. Just thinking - this looks like a winner to someone who needed to get their clothes clean. But, just curious - how well did the bolts and motor hold up with regular use and why so few found today(?)

All I can think of is when looking at the video is "Rock N Roll" !
