Well, I witnessed an interesting and scary thing while walkin to work this morning. I was walking down the street downtown and I came to an intersection with a stop light. There were a couple people standing with me waiting to cross on this quite rainy morning. There was a bus stopped next to us waitin to make a right turn in front of us. The bus saw a chance to make the turn and decided to take it. However, one of the pedestrians standing with me waiting to cross saw the same chance to cross the street quickly and also decided to take it. The bus had already begun to accelerate and was in second gear by the time the pedestrian realized the bus was even there let alone moving towards him. I'm not sure how he didn't see the bus coming, as the bus cut him off but the guy kept on running and he hit the side of the bus just before the rear tire was about to go past him. The bus was in the middle of it's swing around the corner so the side was heading in his direction as well as past him and he slammed into the side of the bus and was spun around by the motion of the bus going past him. Luckily for him, the bus spinning him around saved his feet from being run over by the buses rear tire, a split second later and he'd have been in a wheelchair for life! The pedestrian was spun around and knocked backwards, he landed in a huge puddle and ended up with only a bloody nose, he was pretty shakin, but fine. The bus didn't even slow down, is just kept accelerating away! You see people get hit by buses in the movies all the time but you never really realize the feeling you get when it actually happens. As soon as I saw the rear tire go past him I was sure that he had lost his feet and that he had smashed his head through the window! Everyone around, cars and pedestrians alike (except the bus of course) stopped to see how much help the guy needed and to make sure he was gonna be ok. Very very luckily, an ambulance that was going past in the other direction on it's way to get some coffee saw the accident and stopped to check the guy over to make sure there wasn't much damage done to him. It was really interesting to see the kindness of strangers take place, these days it's just not that common anymore, however, at least 30 people stopped and helped him up over to a bench while and to try and get the attention of the ambulance and tell them exactly what they saw.
