They might be original. Do you think they were an installation
with the original build? I bet they were. Think of the dish-
washer possibilities!! Does the hood have a conventional fan,
or a squirrel cage?

These appliances came out of a 1920's Craftsman that is being basically stripped down to the studs and redone. I ran across them when I came out to do the new electrical service evaluation, and asked the builder about them, he said they'd be thrilled if I took them off their hands.
The dishwasher was a 1980's (I think) GE affair with no pizzazz whatsoever. The hood has a squirrel cage, and it is absolutely filthy. Any ideas on how to clean those up?

Ammonia and detergent if you don't have a cat.

Lye-based oven cleaner on SS, glass, ceramic but never on aluminum or painted surfaces.

If it's grease you need to clean, get yourself a bottle of Greased Lightning at the supermarket. That stuff'll take any crap off anything, and unlike oven cleaner, won't rough up your hands (or ruin your manicure!)
