Go with this machine. It has huge capacity, sanitizes in cold water, handles king sized comforters as good as laundromat's machines, very energy efficient, consumes a little water, it doesn't take to long to for a load getting excellent results, drying times are also reduced to nearly half of the time.

I have the LG FL Washer and Dryer. We bought the pair in January and I have to say it is the best W/D I have owned. Also, unlike a few on this site, never had trouble with service thankfully. My washer has a sanitary cycle for whites, a water plus feature to add extra water should you need it and it is very energy efficent. You will pay a little more for LG but like the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Another member has had massive issues with LG and i don't trust anything they make
Samsungs alright but i worry bout the silver issue later on in its life
The euro brands are nice but pricy
Whirlpool has commendeered several units, while all nice not my taste
My choice
Frigidaire Affinty AFS7000 or one of the top end units..GREAT washers and very quite and flexable

I'm a member with massive service issues with LG. I got rid of it after almost 3 years of grief trying to get service. I spoke to a rep in PC Richards and they said to play it safe the Whirlpool Duets Not the Sports are reliable as well as any Frigidaire FL is reliable. I am still doing research as to what I will get as a replacement for the LG.

U believe Frigidaire Affinity is the best deal for the money.
Frigidaire makes two slightly smaller models, the 2940 or the 2140 that seem to be excellent (I've attached a blurb from Brault & Martineau, a store I dealt with when I was up there).
I've actually used this machine a lot, and I do believe it represents excellent value.
Some Frigidaire models may be badged "Gibson" in Canada.
Many have spoken well of the Whirlpool Duets, but they cost more than Frigidaire, and it should be remembered that they are made by the German manufacturer Bauknecht, whose quality has suffered in recent years.
Miele is probably the best of the foreign brands, but it comes at a hefty price.
I might consider a Speed Queen, but they are not well supported in my area, and dealers carrying them are surprisingly scarce.
They may be known as Huebsch in Quebec.
I would avoid the largest GE "Adora" model, since so many people I've spoken to in the last few months have disappointing reports.

Sorry, I looked them up, and they have no distributor by you.
Go with Frigidaire, or maybe Whirlpool.
If you want higher-end, stick with Miele.

We’ve been using our LG Steam Washer since July 2006 and it does an outstanding job. My roommate goes to the TX Culinary Academy and his chef’s uniforms come home with plenty of stains on them. His classmates have asked him why his uniforms are still clean and white. Theirs are dingy and most have stains that don’t come out. It’s also huge and great with blankets & comforters. If your clothes get dirty then spend the money for the Steam Washer. If you work in an office and never get stains on your clothes or don’t wash big bedspreads then it probably doesn’t matter which one you get.

In to different instances I had to wait for parts for almost a month each time. Also servicers have told me LG has been uncooporative with them in terms of not paying when necessary. I am happy for you and others that do have Luck with their LG. It seems if they work they work good. If they don't they are a nightmare. If you want to take the chance that you will get a good deal with LG go for it I wish you the best. I do hope you get a good deal and don't have to go through what I went through. And remember whatever you buy once you leave the showroom they don't want to know you. So my advise is shop wisely. Keep me posted and Best Of Luck.

I think the Samsungs look good and Samsung has always had a relatively good reliability (speaking of their VCR's and such). The silver issue should be that big a deal - it's a simple silver bar that is replaced, cost is under $100. Bar should last for years. And if it's completely gone, and you don't replace it, so what? It's not like people have relied upon silver for generations to get laundry clean. But CR says it does work to reduce germs/odor on laundry.
The Miele is top of the line, although I'm not yet convinced their new 4 cu ft American-market models are the cat's meow. At nearly $2000 for the washer alone, it's a stiff ticket for brand name recognition.
Me myself and I get along just fine with my infamous Maytag Neptune 7500 set. The washer had a number of serious reliabiity issues at about the 3 year mark, but an extended warranty handled all that, and it's been running relatively flawlessly since then. My work clothes come out fresh and clean, as well, and they get really dirty, since I'm in the metal working business.

B/S/H is also overpriced (hilarious, very neu reiche friends of my parents just installed an all Bosch kitchen in their house in Colorado. Over here Bosch is sort of like driving a Chevy in the 'States. Solid, reliable, very middle-class). But their stuff is well built.
Samsung has a very good reputation and they build a lot of the components which go into the other machines anyway.
Haier is getting better, but I would not want one if I didn't have a service agent close by.
Danby, etc. vary in quality alot. Your biggest problem is not going to be the quality of the washing, but the service.
I still think a Frigimore is the best way to go. Works well, reliable and when something fails, you can fix it yourself.

I have the Frigidaire 2140 and absolutely love it, since it does not feature the "auto-temp" control--meaning I can have the water come out as hot as it does from the tank--and because it has a water pressure switch which is very easily modified.
Besides that, it has a variety of cycles which come in handy, and holds an amazing amount of laundry.
Best of all, it's affordable. Last time I saw one at Best Buy for under $600--while the LG steam washer goes for more than double that amount. The matching Frigidaire dryer does a nice job also.

I've owned, in order over the last 20 years, a used Westinghouse 3-belt f.l., a White-Westinghouse early-version electronic f.l., a "Frigimore" or "Frigilux" f.l, and now own a Duet HT. From reading about all of the service/parts issues with imported models, particularly the Korean ones (LG, Samsung), and having used the Duet for over a year now, I'm sold on it completely. No problems, does a fantastic job, is very quiet and economical, and parts are easily available as is service. Bauknecht no longer manufactures it; Whirlpool bought the Bauknecht factory some time ago. With the bearing issues Frigidaire has suffered from in recent years (that's what killed mine), I'd stay away from them.

I like the Maytag Neptune. My fisrt one was a 1998 and still running strong at my brothers house. It did have some problems with the wax motor lock and motor control unit which were a know problem in the earlie years. Both problems covered by maytag warranty. I now have 2003 Neptune washer and dryer and have not had any problems. I think they are very user friendly. I like the soap dispencer size on top of the machine. I did own Kenmore Elite HE3 and hated it. Not enough water and did not care for the pull out drawer soap dispencer. You have to have good aim and steady arm to get bleach in the tiny little square with out spilling all over the floor. I had the Kenmore matching dryer and did not like that either. Had a hum or vibration to it that was very annoying. The lint filter was hard to get in and out and clean. The cool down cycle was that on/off tumble that was not really effective. The Maytag Nepune dryer runs continuous unil the clothes are COOL. Then goes into on/off tumbling.
