I'm using a 85mod. Zanussi S600(Z912), with 500rpm as a reserve machine. Great and silent machine... But I have done alot with it to get it running. My uncle, who had it before, used it to wash mop's with, and when he had it, I changed the bearings, but they got worn after a short while + that the drum"spider" got broked off! Then I got the machine, and I found a new drum, and replaced new bearings/sealings, and a new pump. Runs like new! I'll post some pic's of it in a new thread wery soon;)

could you possibly make a video ofteh dryer cycle? I want to compare the tumble rythm to a modern one. Thanks

It kinda reminds me of my Zanni washer dryer WDS1183 or something LOL it sounds kind of similar although mine did normal tumbling, when im next at my sisters will try and video her zanussi as it tumbles the ssame as mine did.

Zanussi jetsystem turbodry

My friend had the jetsystem turbodry shown above. It was great but one day he put a rug in it, set the cottons 40 fast spin prog and walked the dog. When he came back the machine was on the other side of the room. When he took the rug out loads of concrete come out with it. It had spun so violently that is had literally smashed to bits. The whole drum was bent and twisted. I bet that would have been frightening to watch!

We had the same model as this Darren at home, bought in 1990. Ours also had a red uppy downy spin speed selector but apart from that it was identical. Have to say was not a fantastic machine for us, the dryer fan kept jamming, it needed tons of new damper pads, at least one new programmer, and probably tons of other stuff.

There was no OOB protection, Rob, though ours never moved an inch TBH, my guess is that mb there were other issues with your mate's machine, perhaps the concrete had gone anyway, or it wasn't level or something.....

I didn't actually like the machine much, I just didn't connect with it. But that's just me! They were certainly great at washing - good results . Should be noted that ours, as Darren's, was not a jetsyetem but was a turbo dry.

Yea these machines are amazingly still! I don't no about yours nick but mine does a few bursts before the proper spin which i wasnt expecting, i think it helps it does counter tumbling shorts shades of a obb act.

Its very stable and quiet nicely level in the corner. Example the load i did earlier had 2 pairs of jeans and a dressing gown in and didnt move! I was expecting a dance!

I'm really pleased with the wash results. The rinse result is most important to me and this is fantastic a spin after the wash and four rinses with interm spins is all dandy with me!

Thanks for the vid's! Seems like a great machine.

Thought it was interesting that the Delicates / Woollens progs where next on the dial (after cottons) J+K, and synthetics was after that L+M+N. I've never seen a Zanussi like that before! My auntie had one very similar to yours and my nan's got one from a few year later, and they where both Cottons, Synth, Delicates.

Yes i found that slightly random but cool. I don't think i've seen a machine like that cept for obviously models where wool was the next prog along after cotton 40 e.g my logic and old hotpoints.

Can't think why that is. quirky though.

I love the older dark grey panel zanussis, My friend had 2 of the FL812 machines, these had the induction motor, and they were really reliable work horses. They were bought in 1989 and they were used about 8 times a day, 4-5 days a week, for 12 years. Then they broke down in 2001 and they bought two hoover performa (Candy) Machines.

Absolutely Amazing machines, they had loads of programmes on them as well, like the dial went from A-X or something like that. I miss the programme dials that you used to pull out to start the machine. A trade mark on most 80's machines, such as Zanussi/Hotpoint/Electrolux.

Zanussi Really are the Appliance of Science

That FL812

That FL812 was sold as ZF821X here in Norway. Great workhorses. I know several peoples who have this one, and they're still going fine!

I just found on ebay, my nanas old washer, a Bendix 71388 1000 Autowasher Deluxe, she bought that in 1988 and that lasted her 12 years as well, always remember using Persil Automatic in it when i was little :)

the drum formed a leak and the machine was clogged full of limescale so she had to scrap it

was a good workhouse though, was a rebranded zanussi:)

below the bendix 71388 machine circa 1988/89, I've seen machines like this in germany under the privelig name, which were grey.

My mother had the Zanussi DW400 dishwasher, which matched the colour scheme.

My grandfather had a Zanussi Jetsystem FJS1295 (from the late 1990's). It had front-back drum movement! I was concerned, as I'd never seen such 'give' in a drum before. I called out the engineer, and he said that it was quite normal for Zanussi machines. Further calls to Zanussi Head Office and another Zanussi repairer confirmed such 'floating movement'. The movement was 2-3 mm.

Does yours exhibit such movement? (Grasp the inner drum, and try moving it back and forth within the outer tub. 'Clunks' and 'clangs' would indicate movement).

@zanussi_lover: Maybe I can make a video of one, but I havent so good contact with the owners now....But I can try;) I hope one of them still have the machine...What do you mean about limescale? Sorry, but my English is really bad!

@rolls_rapide: I've seen alots of those dishwashers, but hav'nt repaired any yet.
Yes, almost every Zanussi from that era had that movement in the drum...! But it's just on those machines which can be splitted on the middle... I dont care about that little thing anymore:P
 
Drum movement

That's interesting: My Zanussi IZ16 (from 2001) does not have such drum play. Maybe the tilted drum requires properly anchored bearings and shaft.

The "wavespring" reminds me of the bearing spring in the ends of the agitators/activators for Hoover upright vacuum cleaners.
