Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

When a thread is watched, it gives the option to receive email notifications. You may need to unwatch, then watch again to verify the setting on your watched threads.

Advertisements I'm posting are blurry. Hard to read the text. Is there a way to increase the resolution?
Are these the general ads? Is there one or two in particular? I am seeing the ads sharply. And what device and browser are you using to view the site?

What is the maximum size for attached/displayed photos in px? Robert's coding resized too-large photos to 900px maximum on the largest dimension.

The vintage ads I post in various threads. The last 2 ads posted in

Vintage Appliance Advertisements: Part Twenty-nine

for example. The print in the ads are barely legible. I am using a MAC with Firefox/Mozilla.

Louie,
I just looked at the ad that you posted today and it looked pretty clear to me and I’m viewing it on an iPad. The print was legible for me.

What is the usage of the +Quote (Toggle multi-quote) function? It drops a momentary flag "Message added to multi-quote" (or "Message removed from multi-quote") ... but then how does one make use of that?

Good evening all, I just logged on today on the ‘new’ AW, while the site hasn’t fallen off of the face of the earth (knock on wood), I find it’s a lot different than the old AW site. The good thing is you can edit or delete posts and send DMs on top of getting notifications when someone likes a post, but the downside is you can’t go onto the older threads as easily. Tried going onto the thread of where resurrected my Whirlpools, but just stops loading halfway, even when I try to click back, still won’t let me. Have to essentially close the browser and start all over again.

Hopefully the site layout slowly turns back to what it once was, or something reminiscent. Kinda tricky since everything is all over the place at the moment.
How do you post? New member here

If your name needs capitalization, please send me a direct message or post the correct form of your member name on this thread.
I'll keep checking to correct those. Additionally, Premium members can change their member name by clicking the link below. It will not change immediately, but it requires approval, so it may take a little time before it changes.

Sorry Alan how do I post? I am looking for elcon fans

Alan, now that I got the hang of using this site and long-wondered why or how long before it would be and look like a lot of other website and discussion boards in the past, I am pleased with this new design...

Even with the options there are of upgrading & perhaps the basic membership's drawback to me, mostly being those ads, so when my platinum runs out, I can merely go past Gold to just Bronze and get the features I want/need...

So thank you again for bearing with the way most of us here & I seem to "voice out" our questions and confusions a few times of things that we put here and there that you have been patient and tolerant in answering and pointing out ...

I wish you many happy and successful years of taking Rob's place and continuing to keep making AW.org the most informative, knowledgeable (you know, for those do-it-yer-self'rs) and of course, Happy Place!!!!

When the current Premium level expires, you are welcome to select the Premium level that best suits your needs. Also, posting the questions is a great help in letting me know how to fine-tune the forum after the software change. I am learning about the forum and its members, but all of you are familiar with the forum and its members. We work together.

I like the new format and am grateful the owner makes this site available to us for free. One constructive criticism though - after the site was updated I started receiving daily email updates. I logged on and went to my profile to try and turn off the daily notifications. But I couldn't find that option anywhere in my profile tab or anywhere else I looked. I went back to the notification email and it had a link there to take me to the unsub settings and I got it done there. But FYI to the admin, you might want to make the notification settings easier to find under your profile icon menu.

Thanks again for a very unique and awesome site!

Not sure if this is normal or a bug, however I unchecked all email options and I am still getting (email) notifications regarding watched threads.
The email notification settings on the Preferences screen only apply to new threads you create or reply to, from this point foward.

To turn off email notifications for all the threads that you created or replied to in the past, click "Watched" at the top of the site underneath the Forums tab. Then "Manage watched threads" at the top right. There you can either disable email notifications for all of these threads, or unwatch them entirely (meaning you also will stop getting notified about them by the bell in the upper right corner of the forum).

Alright, I just did this was well. For now it looks to be working as thread replies are not triggering email notifications. The bell and PM at the top are still working like before. Thank you for the help! :)

I'm having a hard time with navigation here. The old site was uncomplicated and intuitive. This new format is not. I do appreciate that Robert took the time to make sure AWO continued on after he retired, and that Alan is working hard to answer questions and make changes/fixes, but something as simple as hitting the "back" arrow takes me someplace I never was, other members changes to their profiles appear for no apparent reason, and these are just two examples of what in general seems like a whole lot of unrelatable logic and unneeded bloat and distraction. I would like to eliminate a ton of stuff from even displaying here.

I freely admit that I'm change-averse, particularly when a well thought-out design that's highly intuitive morphs into a relatively indistinct array of previously unnecessary options. Less is more IMO. I find that I'm spending less time here simply because the corporate format doesn't make anywhere near as much sense as Robert's masterful design. I'll eventually get the hang of things and ignore what I don't have any use for, but right now my interest in visiting at all is being tested. Technology in general has always been difficult for me because I have a need to understand how something works in order to master it. To me, this new system is about as efficient as using a computer touch screen menu in a car just to change a radio station, or for that matter having to do something similar in order to start a load of laundry.

This is JMO, and I apologize to Alan for not being a nerd. I will adapt, but it's going to take time and a whole lot of patience on my part. I'm feeling like AWO won't be the first site I visit each day anymore. The term "tiresome" never, ever came to mind when navigating Robert's site.

It works fine on my iPhone. The structure is the same as the. old website. Click on the Automatic Washer Logo and you will be taken to the homepage with the forums.

Click on What’s New and you see the latest posts. There are a few more options than on the old site but in basic it’s the same.

Hope this helps.

I have an issue on the iPhone where when I revisit a thread I’ve been to before, it doesn’t always take me to the latest messages. Sometimes, it goes to the original message on the first page, other times it’ll take me down to the new messages regardless of how many pages there are. Otherwise it seems to behave consistently.

I will agree that on a small screen, there is a lot wasted screen Realestate. I haven’t downloaded the app yet to see if that’s any better
