Good evening all, I just logged on today on the ‘new’ AW, while the site hasn’t fallen off of the face of the earth (knock on wood), I find it’s a lot different than the old AW site. The good thing is you can edit or delete posts and send DMs on top of getting notifications when someone likes a post, but the downside is you can’t go onto the older threads as easily. Tried going onto the thread of where resurrected my Whirlpools, but just stops loading halfway, even when I try to click back, still won’t let me. Have to essentially close the browser and start all over again.

Hopefully the site layout slowly turns back to what it once was, or something reminiscent. Kinda tricky since everything is all over the place at the moment.

When a thread becomes longer there will be more pages. Is that perhaps something you overlooked?

Seems that Chet's method of apparently linking photos from elsewhere or in a way that the data import can't handle has fouled-up his replies there, and probably many elsewhere.

Go under "Your profile" (the picture on the top right) and choose "Account upgrade" so that you will discover that now the "Custom Platinum Level Badge (replaces Gold badge)" costs $ 200 per year
We are still working on this, but prior Premium members will be grandfathered in with all available permissions and a few additional perks.
If you are not a current Premium Member, you can click that link and see four options. The basic has several permissions, as in the prior way. It is still a work in progress, so please give us another day or two to fine-tune the change.

I didn't see any particular "new" login instructions but had to reset my password to get in. Was that expected?
That happens to just a few after a significant change like this one. I apologize that you were one of the few who needed to reset your password.

And anyone with an outdated email in their account, please consider updating to a current email address so that if something happens, a reset password email will be sent to a valid email address.

If you find a post or thread with links that do not work, please post one of the thread or post addresses here so our leading tech can take a look. He is a wizard at bringing the old links back to operational status.

Here are two examples, including the thread Sean has in mind. Post #8 contains large vacant spaces and where a picture is supposed to be there is a long list of letters and numbers instead:

In this thread which had colored letters in the replies, code appears beside the wording that is supped to be colored:

My apologies ahead of time since it appears that it is my posts which are doing it. 😳

And to add to the question train, is there a way users can capitalize the first letter of their username like in the old forum?

Thank you to Alan for taking the time to read and address all our concerns.

If your name needs capitalization, please send me a direct message or post the correct form of your member name on this thread.
I'll keep checking to correct those. Additionally, Premium members can change their member name by clicking the link below. It will not change immediately, but it requires approval, so it may take a little time before it changes.

The head tech has seen the issue and corrected it. Please let me know if you see other issues.

When you click 'Reply' on a post, it will quote the post in your new post, and you can answer above or below the quote box.
If you want to create a new post, go to the end of this thread, where you'll find a blank box to fill in with your latest content.

I do not see a link or image in those posts. How were you presenting them? Do you still have the pictures that could be edited by either uploading or cutting and pasting them into the thread? And I love that first washer, which is blue.

The pictures are now starting to show up. Some I copy and pasted (like in the above threads), others (like in other threads not posted here) are linked from photo bucket or imgur.

That's good. The tech told me he fixed the issue. Please let me know if there are any other issues.

I'm impressed with how quickly the forum was migrated over, given the homegrown custom software setup it had before.

Only one issue - I upgraded to a paid membership on the old site a couple days before it was migrated over. The upgrade never took effect. I had just been waiting because there was a notice that it could sometimes take a while, but especially now that the site software is migrated over I'm not sure if there will be manual intervention needed for it to work.

Oh yeah, do you know if there’s any benefits that the paid members get? As as far as I know I have been a paid member for quite a couple of years now and I’m wanting to see what else It can do.

By the way, has anybody else tried uploading a video directly to the site as I tried using my iPhone and it was actually easier to upload here than it was on YouTube

@hvtech42, I have verified and updated your member account.
Thank you!

Before I was upgraded I could by clicking my username in the upper right corner then click "Account upgrades"... however now that I'm upgraded I can't see the screen. I guess someone who isn't upgraded will have to take a screenshot...

@Alan - do you know if/when the mass update for profiles who had paid/upgraded memberships on the old platform will be fully migrated over? Besides myself, I'm not seeing nearly the amount of upgraded profiles for others on AW 2.0.

Thanks! Ben

I wonder where you find your upgraded days?
I found it under Account > Account Details > Account Upgrades.. but I am hoping the price is.. wrong/just a filler number? (I am going to assume they are still filling in details?)

  • Platinum Premium Membership$200.00 per year
    Expires: Apr 6, 2026
  • * All the features of Gold PLUS:
  • * Custom Platinum Level Badge (replaces Gold badge)
  • * Can be "Invisible"
  • * Can see who is "Invisible"

It looks like they gave all the upgraded members from the old site Platinum which is the highest tier. There are several tiers below Platinum which are much cheaper - the lowest one was $20 or $30 a year, which gives most of the upgraded features from the old site if I remember correctly. But you can't see the lower tier options when you're already at Platinum.

Overall it is a price increase from the old site but to be fair, it looks like there will be some extra functionality that the old site didn't have.
