Laundry Engineered Advanced Product from what I understand.
LEAP was just the Program and Engineering code name.
We use those all the time.
One of Whirlpool’s dishwasher control board was called Skywalker.

Wow! I never knew that. What name did Whirlpool give their dryer platforms? I'm aware of their Dryer Of Tomorrow Today 27 inch platform, which the Whirlpool and Maytag commercial units are based off of if I'm not mistaken. I believe the acronym was DOTT.

Samsung also apparently uses code names for washer and dryer versions. Ace, Squall, Frontier, Potomac, and Grace are a some I've seen referenced on service manuals.
Seems to me that Whirlpool and Samsung are the coolest manufacturers, especially Whirlpool.
I have at least two Samsung products: my dishwasher and my stove... My new washer and dryer are both Maytags, so that leaves my refrigerator and microwave wondering to replace with...

No, those are the two original appliances my house came with that luckily are still working...
However, I will not be as able to find a great refrigerator like that one--it is most-perfectly designed and even has a name-plate, not the name on the door...
As for the microwave, it's an over-the-range model that will be hard to remove and install a new one of...
That would be nice to have a Samsung of and with a blue LED display to match my newer range's of below, in stead of the old green one...

In regards to Maytag's demise: When you take Gub'mint regulations imposed by bureaucrats who know nothing about real world problems, and combine it with with Maytag Inc. bean counters, designing machines by cutting costs, you get DEATH. Olde Maytag, it was good to know ye, and I treasure my 23 year old Atlantis.

Maybe I have the last working Maytag TL. I'm not sure it is a Maytag design, It was manufactured in Florence (Italy)? It is still manufactured as I've seen it without the Maytag name on it. In any case the machine is very effective at producing clean laundry. See Consumer Reports. Colors / Jeans doesn't spin at a high speed and the clothing releases easily. To me it is a fun machine,

Ya know, at day's end THAT'S what its all about...... clean laundry, and having fun while doing the wash.

This was a Maytag design that they can see and built in the Norge plant, it was very effective at cleaning. In fact it got the highest rating in consumer reports the one time they tested it.
It was not well liked by consumers because of the severe tangling problems. A lot of them were returned.
It was also rushed to market. It had a lot of glitches in it however it was cool truly cool machine. I have one that’s still working one of the digital touchscreen models for the museum. My brother has the less expensive model that still works fine neither get used much
Did not know they were still being made somewhere, I thought I heard at one point the design was sold to accompany in China and they were made for a while, but never saw any confirmation on either one of these scores. Maybe someone else knows.
