F&P's SmartDrive is/was LEAPs and bounds past WP, IMO.
Are you not aware of what LEAP means?Whirlpool has what I'd argue the most advanced laundry technology. Why was it called LEAP in the first place?

Wow! I never knew that. What name did Whirlpool give their dryer platforms? I'm aware of their Dryer Of Tomorrow Today 27 inch platform, which the Whirlpool and Maytag commercial units are based off of if I'm not mistaken. I believe the acronym was DOTT.LEAP was just the Program and Engineering code name.
We use those all the time.
One of Whirlpool’s dishwasher control board was called Skywalker.
Many projects i’m on, are named after towns, rivers, or James Bond villains.
Seems to me that Whirlpool and Samsung are the coolest manufacturers, especially Whirlpool.Samsung also apparently uses code names for washer and dryer versions. Ace, Squall, Frontier, Potomac, and Grace are a some I've seen referenced on service manuals.
What about Whirlpool or Frigidaire?I have at least two Samsung products: my dishwasher and my stove... My new washer and dryer are both Maytags, so that leaves my refrigerator and microwave wondering to replace with...

Maybe I have the last working Maytag TL. I'm not sure it is a Maytag design, It was manufactured in Florence (Italy)? It is still manufactured as I've seen it without the Maytag name on it. In any case the machine is very effective at producing clean laundry. See Consumer Reports. Colors / Jeans doesn't spin at a high speed and the clothing releases easily. To me it is a fun machine,Today, I’m going to be discussing one of the worst washers ever, the top loading Neptune. Extremely rare to find one working these days because most broke down years ago.
It had so many mechanical problems and it was notorious for tying clothes into knots. Common failures included the motor, transmission, and control board.
The transmission used on those was also plastic I heard, and the design caused mold to build up in the washer. It was like a top load washer replicating a front loader.
Video of someone with issues with Neptune TL (note: NOT Whirlpool made).
This is one of the reasons why Maytag had to be bought by Whirlpool, I heard they were actually sued for making this extremely poor design.
The Whirlpool built Maytags are much better than the TL Neptune (even the new new ones).
