The flu is as real as the ocean and the sky! In 1971 just before my 20th BD I got the Hong Kong Flu. I was a healthy young man, but that flu put me in the hospital for 10 days with pneumonia, the doctor told me that if I didn’t go to the hospital I could die.

After that I’ve gotten the annual flu shot like clockwork every year. And even with that I used to get the flu while I was still working about every 5th year or so, but never severely like the time I landed in the hospital and thats because the flue shot isn’t complete protection from the flu, but if you do get it, its a mild case. And I’ve received each and every Covid vaccination that I was due for. Knock on wood both my husband and I so far haven’t come down with Covid.

I believe in science and taking precautionary measures to remain healthy and so far in my 74 years its served me well.

To each his own.

Yes, the flu is real, agreed, but I stick to my story about it, and how it spreads.
I've never gotten a flu shot in all of my 72 years.
Maybe once about 25 years ago I got a bad cold.
Washing my hands, not rubbing my nose, and handling tons of customers' broken tv's, stereos, etc in the shop, I knew to be smart.
With all respect, it's apparent that you have become "conditioned and dependent" - to Big Pharm, who thanks you.

This is not the proper forum for this topic.

I apologize to my fellow members for helping to lead the thread in this direction. I’ve nothing more to say.

No need to apologize. One of the reasons I enjoy this forum, is to get a break from all the conspiracy theories I read elsewhere.

Something to keep in mind is most of the pollution in this world is created by governments and corporations, not the commoners. This is a problem the so-called voters have zero control over.

Here's an article, and a left wing one at that, that admits the US MIC is the worst polluter in the world.

https://www.newsweek.com/climate-change-us-military-pollution-carbon-emissions-2094434

Other than bitching (which accomplishes nothing), there isn't anything we can do about this unless you can get at least 50 million people to start a revolution over it. Good luck with that!

No doubt about it. But right from the article:
The study, led by Ryan Thombs of Penn State University and published in PLOS Climate on July 2, drew on publicly available data from the DOD spanning 1975 to 2022, linking reductions in military spending to significant decreases in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

So we can do something about it. Get voters to stop voting for administrations, like the current one, that do nothing but unnecessarily increase military spending:

In February 2022, the Army released a strategy pledging net-zero emissions by 2050 and a goal to electrify its military vehicle fleet and shift bases to carbon-free electricity. Climate change has become much less of a priority during the current Trump administration.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, in a statement on March 10, downplayed the role of climate change within the DOD, The Independent reported. "We do training and warfighting," Hegseth said, rejecting climate initiatives as outside the military's responsibility. His stance diverged from both Pentagon climate policy in previous administrations and the department's own research

No revolution needed. Just stop voting against science and progress.

You say combating climate change but it's just a youth of mism for
As a lifelong Native Californian I’m really sick and tired of this “California Bashing”! Just because we Californian’s recognize the necessity of combating climate change and the relentless attack on Human and Civil Rights by the GOP we are considered to be the enemy. California has always been ahead of the curve as far as environmental and social progress. Most Californias love their state.

The quest to go back to “the good old days” when racial discrimination was the norm and Gay people were locked in the closet, and wholesale pollution and destruction of the environment was rampant is offensive.

The only folks that would benefit by this trip Back to the Future are the bigoted and the obscenely wealthy. If we fail to preserve our natural resources and the rights of ALL human beings we eventually will be living in world that will be good for no one.

Climate change is a joke. In the '70s it was going to be a global ice age and in the '80s it was acid rain control under the guise of "saving mother Earth". Why are you folks so concerned about saving something that biblically is going to be destroyed and recreated ? You can't do it. It's not possible. All it is is for the elites on the top to have more control over you.... And I think many of you think you're in that club.
Faith in humanity will let you down.

While Matt stated some facts regarding climate, seasons, etc. there are many more facts proven by scientists and medical research experts. Is he one?
We are over 8 billion living on earth. Many of us have grandchildren whom we care about the future quality of life for. Yes life is short, but do we need to add avoidable pollutants, etc to the atmosphere and waters?
As for diseases and health, my mother was an R.N. who personally knew Dr Jonas Saulk who discovered the polio vaccine. Measles were non existing until uneducated parents quit having kid's immunized.
My mother in-law had shingles and it is excruciatingly painful. We both got the vaccine shots. We knew healthy in shape people who died of COVID-19 so we get boosters too.
I don't dissagree that too many drugs taken are good, and many have horrible side effects. Additional ones can be needed to counteract, and it's a catch 22 gamble. So do the best you can to control your weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose. An annual blood screening is necessary to monitor these. Many don't care, and all you have to do to see is it is to pass by a group of people waving flags, signs and selling the red items. Or dine in a restaurant.
In closing, too little knowledge can be dangerous. Ignorance can be bliss or deadly.

Agiflo, I have to aggree that faith in humanity has let us down. I've lost faith in quite many since 2020, and more since last year.
The ice ages were covered by my sixth grade science teacher in 1971. No one predicted an ice age was coming soon. It's is a fact that each one was preceded by substantial warming.

Vacerator/Mike, I've highlighed a few points you mentioned that caught my eye.
And sorry for this long reply....

First, No, I'm not some sort of medical expert or scientist, nor claim to be.
I am however quite educated and informed in a lot of subjects that interest me.
And no, I don't believe everything I hear or read, only fools and the gullible take things at face value.

Plus, after watching the changes that have gone on through the decades, I don't mind sharing what I've learned with others if it helps them understand the world we live in.
Of course, at times, I've gotten those stubborn/brainwashed types of people who insist that I'm some kind of delusional idiot, and the ones on this thread have shown their colors. - and they are free to do so, after all, I'm all about Freedom Of Speech. - In most cases, if not based on misinformation.
I've stated many times that I insist on living in and dealing with reality, not some widespread world of hype, propganda, lies, or misinformation.

Growing up, indeed, I got the early school-age shots for the various diseases.
Back then in the late 1950's-early 1960's, the Pharma empire was an honest and reputable thing we could trust.
However, as I see it, it now has expanded into a massive controlling influence over The People.
This to me speaks of greed, manipulation, forced dependence, among other evils.
My niece, now in her late 40's, is a long-time nurse at one of the major hospitals here.
She's enightened me to things going on in the medical field which only adds to what I've already researched previously.
And with that, she's got no reasons to lie or make up things, she wants me to live a long comfortable life and be happy.
Surely, everyone knows those annoying tv/radio commercials about all those "miracle drugs" and procedures being constantly marketed over and over at society.
Now tell me, is that really normal?

Indeed, some afflictions are valid ailments, my grandmother had a bad case of shingles in her senior years, I can only imagine the pain of having to live with it.
That Covid19 stuff was clearly a manipulating device with political roots.
Anyone with a clear head on their shoulders could see that clearly like looking through a freshly washed window.
And many people have died from it, particularly the elderly and weak, even after getting "the shot".
And who benefitted from it?
Big Pharm and the medical society!
And yes, as you mentioned, healthy people also succumbed to it's effects.
It appears to be a carefully planned out scheme to convince society to get the shot, get them on-board to long-term dependency in whatever way works.
Just like the Flue bug has done.
It's funny that I've always tended to stay away from hospitals and ignore advertized suggestions of medical treatments.
At 72, I'm still in reasonably good health, never getting involved with what others have been led or "conditioned" to believe.
While others, friends, have gotten on the bandwagon, and have lived less than normal lives - being dependent on pills and doctor visits.

True fact: My neighbor, a retired cop and widower, had a long-running illness of kidney problems for years.
He knew what was involved and took the proper procedures to deal with it.
Along came that Covid monster, and he got scared and turned into a recluse.
His niece moved in to tend to the house and did the shopping.
The rare time he'd go anywhere was to his doctor for a checkup.
Oddly, within a short time, he became ill and went downhill, and died from kidney failure, as his cop son was told, and was documented on the death certificate, which I saw.
A few months later, the son received news that the hospital sent in false info stating death as from Covid, which we all knew was a bunch of crap.
because the hospital benefitted from a juicy payment for stating that nonsense.
The son immediately started a lawsuit, I haven't spoken to the son since, because the house has been sold, so I don't know the outcome.
This is part of the manipulation and corruption going on these days.

The few on here implying that I spout jibberish about things - take a hike!

Great post there!
You're "window to the world" isn't clouded by controlling propoganda. ;)

My dad had renal failure too Matt, from Type II, insulin, heart and blood pressure meds, but he had to take them following a triple bypass at age 62, and two stents in 2000, and 2002. He took dialysis twice weekly from November 2013 to his final day on December 1, 2017 at 85. He was mobile till the end.
I have a brother in law who is a covid/vaccine denier. Not my sister, but they've both had it three times. Both overweight, He has type 2, and thinks that ventilators were killing people during 2020-21. If they weren't able to breathe on their own anyway, what else could be done? Common sense. My sister is a 14 year stage 4 ovarian cancer survivor. She is a vison therapist for the VA hospitals, and has seen a lot too. They both were given Paxlovid for Covid by their doctors. Needless to say, they don't agree on, or discuss politics, or vote the same. They reconnected 6 years ago through high school friends. He was widowed.
So we all have opinions. Mine is that we are going in reverse with the foot on the floor in may ways. Ecologically, economically, health, education, etc.. etc.
I try not to make it much my problem. I can't do much about it, and I'll be gone form this crazy ball of dirt in about 20 years. Any who, I can't help still caring though. Hope we all half nice life. Candid sarcasm and satire keeps me laughing.

Hi Mike, sorry to hear about your dad.
My mom suffered for years with gallbladder issues, which eventually spread to her liver and wasn't treatable.
The doctor gave her 6 months, she lasted only 4 of them.

At the end, she was comatose, and I held her hand as I watched her take her last breath.
That day it was around 12 noon, July 29th, 1984.
Me, my sister, and my niece got together this past July 29th to reminice, look at family photos, and remember mom.

Sorry Matt! I miss my folks and all of my relatives dearly. We were a close knit first/second generation Italian family. All we have now are photos of grandparents, aunts and uncles from holidays, reunions and weddings. Of 33 first cousins on my dads side of 8 siblings, including myself and my 4 siblings, 26 remain. One family had 7, 3 had 5, one 4, two had 2 each, and one only child. The eldest is 73, but he looks 63. One whom is also higher in age has had a liver and a kidney transplant. He contratcted Hep. C in the army in Panama in the 70's. He also drank heavily. He took Anabuse to be on the transplant list.
Our last reunion was in 2024. Not all attended. So many 3rd. and 4th. cousins now. One is even transgendered. We each have one, so wed don't judge. Not our concern, doesn't affect us. No, the entire family accepts or support all of us. Sadly.

These warnings come completely from our litigious society.
Every warning on every product is there either in order to deter legal action, or because of a past legal action.

The company I interned at many years ago, had to go through this.
Ever since the court cases, every single one of their wire stripper tools, now has to be stamped with the warning, "DO NOT USE ON LIVE CIRCUITS."

You may think that's common sense, but lots of electricians like to work on live wiring for expediency. Or in rare circumstances, necessity.
But my company lost the lawsuit, because it was deemed that "we KNEW people would try to use this on live wires, but we didn't explicity say not to."

Now, it's quite possible, in another country, my company would've won the lawsuit, or it woudl've been thrown out, because in other countries, there's some semblance of what many of you call "common sense." But more importantly, other country's' legal systems also penalize frivolous lawsuits.
Not here.
Anyone can sue anyone at any time. You could say that has it's merits, but also its many drawbacks.

We have OSHA because safety should be first! Union bi laws also often prohibit unsafe work practices. It makes perfect sense.
So companies should cover them selves with label warnings to guard against law suits. It took one master die to include that wire stripper warning, and a few extra initial dollars. Workers get electrocuted, crushed by granite slabs on or near Hi-lows, etc. either by personal or employer neglect.

No need to apologize. One of the reasons I enjoy this forum, is to get a break from all the conspiracy theories I read elsewhere.

I'd agree, on the contrary to what certain groups like to say about California, and it does have its issues, like everywhere, it is literally an economic powerhouse. You could say the USA needs CA more than CA needs the USA (not militarily speaking).
Texas likes to think their poopies don't stink, but they do stink, in 2nd place. And it's a distant 2nd place.

I like to think of California as Arrakis, and Texas is just Geidi Prime.

In engineering school we had to take an industrial safety class.
We did a unit where we studied the OSHA handbook (it's like a phone book, and it's only 1 of several).

To get the point across as to why OSHA exists, we were encouraged to read, or re-read Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle." (on our own time).
We also studied 8 different regulations from the handbook, their legal cases, and history as to why they were implemented.

Long, semeseter-long story short, every one of those 29 CFR OSHA regulations was written in blood, or a lawsuit.

And now we're undoing them. And these lessons will need to be painfully learned over again. Someday.

That's as it should be within the family.
