Exactly Matt. I meant professional techs as yourself, who often get repair projects that were botched by other shops. A reputable tech will test, scope, replace, test again, until the unit is within factory spec's.
Oh lord!..... I've seen plenty of botched up jobs come across the counter!
I could tell stories about them till the cows come home.
Jury-rigged slop, dangerous repairs, etc etc etc..... you name it.
One thing I always did right at the counter when the customer brought something in was to look at the case/cabinet screws - I could instantly tell if they've been taken out, usually by a worn-out screwdriver.
In some stuff, there was even missing or loose screws.
I knew that would add to the frustration and costs.
One flatscreen tv, a 48" Samsung plasma set, was missing several screws, the customer duct-taped the loose back on.
And inside?..... the main 6 amp fuse was wrapped in tinfoil!
Loads of toasted parts burned up.
That job got turned down!
Trust me, I've seen it all!
