I need help figuring out what is going on with my speed queen washer. It is a TC5 and it is about 5 years old. After washing the water doesn't drain out and it makes a light humming noise. Then the light starts blinking. I have had someone out to look at it but he doesn't work on speed queens normally so he really wasn't sure. We have checked the drains, pump, and even replaced the capacitor but still have no idea what the problem is. Help Pleaseeeee

Any chance of a clog somewhere in the drain line? Maybe a sock stuck in the pump's input line? If it hums, the chances are good that all the electronics are ok, I'm not familiar with the specifics of the board's design, but they probably used a relay, so the 120V is getting to the pump if it's humming... don't throw the baby out with the bath water, a well designed electronic control is fine for 20 years or so. Mechanical timers wear out, too...

Mass production of electronics must have excellent Quality Control Inspection, which these days is questionable.

The first thing to check is to remove the front panel and see if the motor turns freely, as suggested above there may be something jammed in the water pump.

If the motor turns freely and still doesn’t start and run properly with the pump and maybe the belt removed from the pulleys you may have a bad motor. The motor is far more likely to go bad than the control board on the style washer, however, motor failures are also quite rare.

Is it still under warranty. I procured my TC5 in 2019 and Alliance was offering a 10 yr warranty it but you had to procure and register by Sept or Oct 30.

I think this one has a separate drain pump mounted to the bottom of the unit. It has a cleanout plug, not sure if that accesses the impeller, but if they can turn it freely and it's humming when it ought to drain, it seems like it would be ok. Also, I didn't think to ask -if the tub is full of water, and it doesn't come gushing out when you open or remove the pump, the hose between the pump and tub is probably clogged. If it's a "c-frame"motor that runs on 110V, hums when powered, and turns freely, it's probably ok. If it's a more modern design, like my WP Kitchenaid DW, all bets are off. Those can be loose as a goose, and maybe even hum, but still have some little 3 cent electronic component inside that's fried... They have a pretty short duty cycle stamped on them, that seems to be exceeded routinely during wash cycles...

Speed Queen TC five washer problems

Reply number eight the Speed Queen does not have an electric drain pump unless it’s a Canadian or Australian edition.

There is no clean out port on any Speed Queen top load washer.

This model washer has a mechanical pump that’s mounted on the bottom of the motor, it’s held on by three steel clips.
