I have a problem with my approximately 7 year old Samsung top load washer w/ impeller. Back in April 2025 we had to have the tub suspension rods and springs replaced to the tune of $350.00. Before the repair every load we washed cause the washer to become grossly unbalance. Suspension was replaced and cleared up the unbalance during spinning.
Fast forward to now the washer again is starting to get off balanced with every load. I can’t find the manufacture date with serial number.
I am considering replacing the washer with a Samsung front load model #WF45T6000AW $678.00 at Lowe’s and will get a riser. My wife and I have a disabled relative living us and can’t be a without a washer for very long.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Peace and blessings,
David
That model was released in 2019 I think. Samsungs are junk. Don’t buy another Samsung. Buy a Speed Queen, or buy something used (don’t buy one from homeowner, but one from reputable sales dealer), you can also try GE (but, do NOT buy the fancy one, those ones can literally blow up on the spin cycle, buy the cheapest one possible if you’re getting GE). Do NOT buy the newest Whirlpool top loaders. I don’t know too much about the new front load Whirlpools but the latest top loaders they’ve been making are junk.
PLEASE don’t buy the Samsung front loaders, they are prone to bearing problems and spider arm failures. One of the worst machines on the market. DO NOT BUY a front loading Samsung, you’ll regret it after a year.
If you’re getting Whirlpool, get the one with the newer style user interface. Do NOT buy the traditional six light style (unless you’re getting a pre-2023 model, which would typically need to be purchased used). VMW’s aren’t the best machines really at all, but the older ones are much better than the newer ones. Oftentimes when the older ones fail it’s a simple fix, such as a shift actuator, a splutch, suspension rods, or a belt pulley rubbing against the cover causing a grinding noise. Control boards didn’t usually fail on the older VMW’s, the drain pumps often lasted the entire life of the machine. The suspension rods are cheaper on the older VMW’s, the rods for the newer VMW’s are more expensive. Avoid the 4.5 to 4.8’s if you can. Those are prone to transmission problems and pump wire problems.
Pretty much every Whirlpool top loader made in 2023 or later is a piece of junk.
I’d suggest to avoid buying any recent Whirlpool top loader. I don’t know too much about their front loaders so I can’t say about those.
