Hoover Keymatic for sale in Adelaide Australia

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I was messaging the person who was selling it. He said he’s had it up for sale for about 5 years. One person was possibly going to get it then Covid happened. He told me he was probably going to get rid of it soon! I would totally grab it if it was closer (and I didn’t have one of my own)

Phone removalists near the seller and near you, and ask them. Ask about backloading - when a truck is returning home after a job, they can carry stuff home on the return trip and often give a discount.
We sent a front loader from Melbourne to my sister when she was in Alice Springs, it was over 20 years ago so I don't remember much, but the price was OK and it got there in one piece.

Good luck with this, you will be the vintage Aussie Hoover specialist...

Ok, so the seller has said it is going to scrap in a couple weeks so I’ve decided to bite the bullet and attempt to get a courier to get it over to me.

Anyone have any experience doing this?
I’m glad you’re getting it!!! Thank god. You will thank yourself. The YouTube ads are so quirky and fun. Enjoy!

I’ll give that a shot, are there any removalists that have a good reputation? Don’t want this to be damaged in transport!

Honestly, I’ve had quite a bit of experience using different companies to move things, I have used pack and send, I have used“truckit.net“ and I have used Airtasker when the quotes from the other two previously were too high for my liking, there’s really been no damage with really anything of mine as some of my things have been quite rusted out, but I think your stuff should be fine I guess as long as it’s all strapped down,
By the way that machine I wanted to get for awhile but I haven’t been wanting to pull the trigger on it, I’m very glad you’re able to get it and I’d love to one day see it and experience the joy of using it one day if you’re open to Washins

Hey Adam!

Thanks a lot for the shipping suggestions. I gave pack and send a call but their quote was $535 dollars… so decided that was way too much. Then put up something on truck it and got a good offer for $250. Ended up going with that option and it is now on its way.
Hopefully it’s undamaged!

I was also tempted for a while but figured Adelaide was too far but when I heard it was going to scrap I just went for it, couldn’t bear to think that one of these was going to be smashed!

I hope to get this one going! I need to get my 3224 up and running too, I think the extremely worn out bearings have damaged the shaft, I’ll have to weld it up and built up the material then chuck it on a lathe back down to spec to get it to fit correctly. Otherwise the machine is in great shape. The one arriving has a spinning drum so it shouldn’t need a full teardown.
The door seals are a mess on both, I’m thinking of using old bike tubes and some sort of rubber glue to make the material seal together. Oh well, we’ll have to see when the time comes!

I sent a slightly torn but pretty good seal to a member of this site in the UK for them to use as a template for making up new seals.
I think it came to nothing - cost was too high, he decided to patch up that seal instead and use it.

I still have a new black seal in a drawer at home, but it is not for sale. It has never been installed, but it still looks old & tired, just natural deterioration from age I guess. I bought it over 20 years ago. My machine (which is not working, I don't have a motor for it) has the original light blue/grey seal, in fair condition, heavily repaired with light grey silicone.

I do wonder if the seal could be remanufactured in China for a reasonable cost? Our "Founding Father" Robert (Unimatic1140) has been remanufacturing smaller rubber parts, he might have some ideas for anyone looking to remanufacture a seal?

I’d definitely want this to happen. I’d be willing to help with some of the costs too (I’m sure others would be as well). I’ve seen lots of threads of people needing new door seals (including me) and it’s been a real challenge finding one. There are also probably heaps of machines waiting to have a new door seals to be operational!
