Hmm... The noise patterns are interesting. It's silent as it is filling -- makes noticible noise as it feeds the different wash arms. It quiets as it is washing/rinsing. It makes more noise again when it drains - a grinding, for lack of a better description. Is this a Whirlpool made model...

Thanks for the feedback... I'll have to look and see if there's an insulation pad on the bottom of the machine. I was also surprised at how much more this machine seems to hold. My old GE had the tower "dead space" in the center of the lower basket. This machine, with the tall tub holds a lot...

Hello everyone - Happy New Year! I have a new Kenmore Elite DW. I really like the way it cleans -- it replaced a troublesome GE Triton. My only complaint is that it seems louder than I would expect for an $850 DW. Does anyone out there have the same model? What do you think? Just curious...

More packing tips..... This is what I do for a living! :) It's a good idea to use a new box for fragile items. Once a box has been shipped, the structural integrity is no longer valid. Check the seal on the bottom of a new carton. It will tell you how much weight the carton is designed for...

I'm leaning toward the kick it till it dies suggestion! It's been a bad plumbing day here -- today's mess was to dig up and replace the leaking water main coming into my house. The wonderful contractors that built the place in '91 backfilled with huge pieces of debris, damaging the water lines...

This time -- leaking drain hose. (Last time, leaking rinse hose.) This time -- hole in the drywall ceiling of my finished basement to find the water source. It's 6 years old - and has already cost me money to fix once this year. Do I fix or replace? What do you all think?? :( John

The Verdict is in.... and it's a leaking rinse hose. (The one that feeds the wash arm for the upper rack.) It's leaking outside the tub from the top, and the water dripping down the sides was causing the sparks. It will be a couple of hundred bucks to repair...the worst part is the delay...
