This time -- leaking drain hose. (Last time, leaking rinse hose.)

This time -- hole in the drywall ceiling of my finished basement to find the water source.

It's 6 years old - and has already cost me money to fix once this year. Do I fix or replace?

What do you all think??

:(

Triton

We installed a new GE in our condo in 2002. It was defective on delivery, powermodule broken from spray arm. A few months later the control panel went and it filled and drained through the entire wash cycle. Had it replaced and the machine has been a dream, since. My ex wife has it now. Just listen to horrors of new products of every brand and know replacement is no gaurantee. I say third time is the charm.

I'm leaning toward the kick it till it dies suggestion! It's been a bad plumbing day here -- today's mess was to dig up and replace the leaking water main coming into my house. The wonderful contractors that built the place in '91 backfilled with huge pieces of debris, damaging the water lines.

I hope that this is the end of the water troubles! Oy!

John-- I'm so sorry to hear about your water main issue. That's expensive, too. I'm sure your GE Triton is a fine DW, but if I had two leak issues with a machine, it would be out the door. I'd find it hard to trust it, anymore.

A co-worker of mine is having problems with an 18-month-old GE Profile dishwasher. Apparently a control module died or was defective. They have been without a DW for 2 weeks, while GE has tried to locate the part. This past Wednesday, GE notified him that they would give him a new DW, including shipping and installation - apparently only because he purchased the extended warranty (5 years) on the existing one. However, none of the remaining time can be applied to the new DW. If he wants to purchase an extended warranty on the new one, he can. Incidentially, the retail price on the new model is over $900. "GE Cares"?

Here's what CR has to say about these models. The Bosch and Kenmore machines are at the top of the ratings. I own the Maytag and love it. Cleans pots/pans like you wouldn't believe. It is a bit louder than the Bosch/Kenmores, but it's not noisy.

Time to do my homework!

Thanks for the info Frigilux....nice of you to take the time to scan and post these!

Have a nice weekend! :)

It cracks me up that they give the Kenmore a higher repair rate then the whirlpool when Whirlpool makes it! gotta love CR... Just like when they say the Maytag is a little noisy... an no self cleaning filter... (it does and it is Quiet!) The whirlpool is the one thats loud. That particular model is rated at 61 dbs where the Maytag is 56, Kenmore is strange because its rated between 52-58, bosch 50.

We sell about 30 1603/1703 a day. They are the best bang for the buck with the plastic tub, and if you want a stainless tub, you can get the same dishwasher for 649.99 its sears number 1375, or if you want a TOL bosch at a kenmore price you can get the 1630 which is comparable to the TOL bosch, but only 749.99 for White/bisque/black
