Wow! A Fort Smith guy! Not far away from me. My personal suggestion would be a Maytag washer and dryer while they were still being manufactured by Maytag, unless you just happen to find a really cool older set. The same goes for a dishwasher. The Maytag reverse rack DW's were hard to beat...

Nice machine I actually had possession of this very model and it was a good, rugged well running machine. Me wonders what happened to Easy in the United States anyway. Looks like they still made machines in Mexico for a time after they did here.

The maytags of yesteryear will always set the rather high standard for washers of that vintage. The fact that there are so very many still in use says volumes. It certainly cannot be said of ANY other machines ever made.

Take a look at an old Norge washer with the rather loud tub lock. The agitation beats clothes to a pulp!!!!

Never have owned one, but did know a family that had one back in the 70's. It was really wide, I remember that. All the impeller machines paled in comparison to spray arm machines and were much more difficult to load and fit things in to get clean.

I think it might have been before harvest gold or avocado was available. I know these first models actually had a slightly larger Bakelite agitator and it was in the 60's.
