Sorry to hear about the demise of your 25 series, I have the flat front panel (Architect Series) version and it's one of my all-time favorite dishwashers.
I'd really like to see the new top wash arm you printed. What did you think of the change in performance?
The 23 series you re-installed...
Hotel Maytag!
Great video, I've had a couple of 12 mil's sister-dryers go through my hands over the years and familiar with lots of them in homes.
I wonder what the piglet was named?
Great report - thanks Robert. Other than a couple of the models listed, most families would need a new dishwasher by the turn of the decade if they used them daily. Interesting to see the numerous out-of-the-box defects they encountered.
In the early 90's I had a 70's Westinghouse portable...
This a great issue, lots to read. I wonder if reading the ratings in the early-days of dishwashers would have discouraged potential buyers from investing in these. Growing up, there were more than a few older dishwashers that were never used, I'm sure most would have gladly had the money spent...
Have been using Cascade pods (on sale at Costco) for a while now, in my dishwashers (KDS-17 daily-driver, KDS-18, Maytag WU600 and previously a KA/WP PowerClean) and they definitely foam more than the Finish tablets w/red ball. Both have cleaned satisfactorily, but with the shorter wash periods...
This is so cool, love the styles of all of them. You nay have to research the 10 atu rating for steam and determine the BTU output to correlate that to a new heat source. The electric elements might be more efficient and easier (?) to do.
I uploaded a quick video of the WTW8127 washing a big load of towels on Max Fill setting. It did a great job on the towels, bringing down groundwater levels in the area noticeably but a sacrifice I'm willing to make for now.
Looks like good results from the convection baking, I tend to like the cheese and crust a little more browned than directions allow time for. I had a Viking (made by Hamilton Beach) counter-top oven that was pretty uneven standard bake or convection. Small oven, 120v, large glass door, etc...
If you look closely at the filter-mount on the Activator, you can see notches (?) around the mount. I don't think I've ever seen that in-real-life either. Perhaps that is another instance of the "Marketing Dept. needs photo/illustration guidance..." before the product was ready for production.
I love the E Go blower and line trimmer - would never go back to corded (or gas) versions. I need to get another battery as only have one that came in the two-tool set. Love their products.
A neighbor of mine just got a robotic mower this season and really likes it. The only thing he would...
Grandparents bought a very similar unit in the early 80's at Gambles store to replace a 20 year-old Sears Coldspot. It was a basic model but suited their needs just fine. We moved it to the basement of my parent's house a couple of years later, as a second refrigerator in the basement. Was...
Some friends bought a GE gas dryer last year to replace a 6 year old WP top-filter dryer. A plastic zipper pull got caught in between the drum and front of the machine. I opened it up to remove the offending bit of plastic, easy enough, but that was one of the cheapest-built machines I've ever...
Recently brought home a 2023 set of WP TOL top load washer and (electric) dryer. The washer had a broken impeller, the collar that holds the all-but-useless spiral-shaped removable 'agitator' had broken when a stiff door-mat was washed. Rather than waiting for repair, parts, etc. the owners...
2001 A Space Odyssey (1968): RCA Whirlpool badge prominently affixed to the food service unit in the shuttle capsule.
I didn't realize WP was contracted to develop food management applications in the space program IRL, another good day to learn something new. Thanks, Cory.
