    Speed Queen Washer model AWN432

HI! I noticed that the water velocity coming from the flume is weak. Yes; spigots are on all the way, No kinks in hoses. Might there be some kind of blockage inside the flume?

Look-in doors on Westy Dryers The 1953 models with the rounded-V-shape styling around the window, and "Clothes Dryer" in stylized script above it. All but BOL models had window on the door through 1963; they went back to a solid door when the styling went "straight line,"

When did local department stores stop selling major appliances?

Addendum: JCP Appliances Almost immeditely after I posted that JCPenney sells appliances, I read elsewhere online, that they will no longer sell major appliances quite soon. This is supposedly part of a restructuring, as JCP has not been doing well, in general.

Could someone help get some info this washing machine?

Believe it or not, we had machines like this in the U.S. in the early-to-mid 1960s, except as I remember, they were only coin-operated for use in launderettes.IIRC, the brand was Cook.

No; Desilu didn't purchase the old Hal Roach Studios lot; it did buy the former RKO Pictures lot from General Tire in 1957.

    Ellis in Freedomland

Great period piece, despite being equal parts dated, campy and playing to stereotypes by today's standards. For you Classic TV fans, You might recognize Robert Rockwell as "Jor-El" Superman's father; and "Mr. Boynton" the fellow schoolteacher and heartthrob in "OUR MISS BROOKS." The film was a...

    POD 13/03/2018 - Blackstone stainless-tub automatic washer & matching dryer & ironer

My grandmother had a Blackstone 150. When I was little, she'd occasionally "save" a load when I'd come to visit. I could never get over her filling the machine with the electrical cord unplugged. I also remember her "witches brew" of detergent; bleach (for white loads); bluing and water...

I, too, had an aunt who had these machines. When I was a little kid, my family lived in an apartment complex, and occasionally, my aunt would invite my mom over to do laundry; we made a day out of it. BTW, can anyone explain the difference between an L-6 and an LB-6?

POD 01/02/2018 - Bendix Tumble Agitator front-load washer

ALL Detergent ALL was originally manufactured circa 1949, by an obscure company based in Columbus, Ohio. Westinghouse dealers sold it "as a service" to new and existing owners of their Laundromat washer. By the early '50s, Monsanto acquired the rights to the product; only to sell to Unilever...

    POD 1-4-18

The Hotpoint is behind the Norge; which is to the left of the Westinghouse; which is in front of the Bendix. Others pictures are Thor (to the left of the one in the far corner); Apex; GE; Whirlpool; and I could be wrong, but I'm guessing the one in the far upper right is another Bendix...

    Fred Maytag

Maytag cheese As I understand it, a different branch of the Maytag family are the cheese makers. In case anyone was unaware, the entire Maytsg family were once dairy farmers, long before they got into the washing machine business. I've had some of their bleu cheeses....they are very, very...
