The machine posted at top is actually a new design from GE's billion-dollar U.S. appliance investment. It's designed AND built right here in the states (see link for details).
I like it -- sensible cycle options and only a couple gimmicks. I think it looks great and I"m rooting for GE on...
Update: I swapped the valve for a new one this week. It's really amazing how easy it is to work on these machines. 6 screws and you have access to the front and top without even pulling the unit out. One screw for the valve and the wires just pull off and push back on!
It's too early to be...
Once every couple months, we open up our MAH7500AWW to start a load of wash and find the tub full of water. I would say it is filling to about the wash level or a bit less. It has been happening off and on for years.
Is it leaking valves -- should I worry about them failing? Or could it be...
Shout Advanced Gel (blue spray bottle), Leave overnight
Two Tide Pods, Heavy Duty / Stain Cycle
I've had great luck with this combo -- fairly expensive products, but they work!
Some interesting info on GE's dishwasher manfacturing investment from Appliance Magazine:
The new dishwashers will be manufactured with more made-in-the-USA parts. About 85% of the parts in the new dishwashers will be made in the United States, and a growing number of them will be made in...
I see several nice design features in this new model. The recessed upper arm is a great idea. The silverware in front makes it super-easy to drop in a knife or spoon. The arrangement of the calrod and filter looks smart -- and I like the addition of a removable filter. The controls look simple...
It's funny how unique each person's experience is with different brands. I've had nothing but great experience with KtichenAid and will continue to highly recommend them to friends and relatives.
The thing I find disappointing about SQ (aside from lack of heater) is the total inability to adjust the wash time. My 10 yr old Neptune can go from 5-34 minutes of wash and on top of that, add a Stain Cyle and PreWash. It's too bad that such a basic adjustment is missing from SQ's simple...
I spotted a container of Tide Pods sporting P&G's new latch. It's certainly not child-proof, but it is harder to open than the last version.
I think they ought to develop a really nice, robust container and then sell the bags of Pods as refills.
Interestingly, P&G has initroduced a companion Vivid version of Tide Boost.
Overall, it looks like its just a marketing, packaging change. I wonder if many consumers have been confused and put off by the prominent mention of Bleach on the prior packaging, thinking it was akin to Chlorine Bleach...
Target has a very good price on Tide HE with Bleach Powder -- 12.00 for 53 load, buy 2, get $5 gift card. Take some P&G coupons with you and save even more!
unless you tailor made the cycles yourself!
That's the great thing about our Neptune 7500. I can't believe ten years later, no one has replicated the simple, but advanced, interface of those Maytags!
What I find interesting about this discussion is how different each cycle is in terms of water usage, etc. Given that we are constantly told the extra cycles are gimmicks, I wonder if that conventional wisdom is no longer valid. And if so, why isn't Whirlpool doing more to advertise them?
