    2017 Speed Queen Washer Sounds

Looks like the agitator & drum are tilted right more than usual, whip out your bubble gauge and see if it's level. Rears are self-leveling, just tilt it forward and you'll hear the legs drop and then tilt it back onto the ground gently. Fronts are manually adjusted after the rears have...

Maytag Atlantis spin bearing: creative parts replacement

Sharing a win story in progress, discontinued parts aren't always a show stopper. Our 18 year old Maytag Atlantis MAVT754EWW, which got a replacement high-torque transmission kit in 2020, overflowed during fill last week. Root cause of that was gunk accumulation inside the drum air bell...

    Speed Queen Washer model AWN432

Agreed w/ above post on removing the fill hoses (especially cold) and examining the inlet screens for blockage. I recently troubleshot a model AWN412 with a "bad timer, stops at rinse cycle" that had a blocked cold inlet, rust from the plumbing. Hot fill screen was fine as the water heater...

White powdery substance - top rim of TC5000WN

Assembly residue? I noticed yours is new...I've read elsewhere about assembly residue left on the stainless steel tub, similar to dry toothpaste and possibly polishing compound used to prep the surface metal. Should be easily removeable with Windex or similar and a rag if this is the case.

    The return of top loaders?

Same here in NJ, the big box stores have about 50/50 mix of top loaders and front loaders on the floor. The top loaders are disposable junk, life expectancy can be estimated at comprehensive warranty term + 1 month. Flimsy suspension rods & springs, transmission (for those that have one) made...

Should I swap out my Speed Queen set for this KitchenAid set?

Ordinarily, I would shout "blasphemy!" at anyone considering swapping out a pre-2017 Speed Queen...but that KA set is awfully darn nice hardware. I'd make the exchange without hesitation, assuming the KA washer has no transmission fluid leakage or other major issues.

    Amana-Queen on life support

Here in NJ, I regularly see Speed Queen AWN412 and 432 washers pop up in the $100-200 range on Facebook Marketplace. They're serviceable, durable, and wash very well. Belt changes are a bit more complex than Maytags, have to pull the front cover & remove the drain pump versus just tilting the...

    kitchenaid dishwasher model #KDFE104HPS

@pierreandreply4 is your mom's dishwasher not level? Looks like the gap between the door and countertop is larger on the left side than the right. Was the washer level checked during installation?

@dadoes that washer is a work of art I'd be proud to have in my house.

Frigidaire FFTW1001PW TL Washer - Frequent Out-of-Balance Problems

Might be time for suspension kit. The parts diagram for your model shows it's a hanging-suspension design, and with other manufacturers the springs get fatigued and cause imbalance problems. Might be time for new rods & springs for yours. Here's an example, and you'd need four...

2007 Kenmore elite oasis drain pump problem

Well that's a cautionary tale about buying parts from Amazon. All that wasted diagnostic time. I bought a drive belt there, but my big parts come from the local mom 'n pop appliance parts & repair shop or Trible's branch when available. I've bought NLA parts used on eBay but only after...

    Speed queen washer awn432sp111tw01sooo loud

I’d guess the drain pump as the noise source, given it’s been sitting for a long time. Remove the front cover and listen as it runs, to narrow down the source of the noise. Here’s a video that shows how to remove the front cover as part of a belt replacement project:

    Dishwasher Power Usage

Nice data! While we were without utility power for 5 days following hurricane Isiaias back in August, I ran our Bosch 300 (model # SHEM63W55N) on our Honda EU3000is inverter generator. The door sticker says 1.2KW, or 12A. No issue for the Honda while also powering a few lights, FIOS...
