the '58 Inglis I grew up with (it died in 1975) was 1 cycle & 2 wash temps, hot or warm. No water level control, but you could move the timer ahead and around the 10 minute mark it would start agitating at whatever level the water happened to be at.

I'm very sad to see the Ranger go - I'm on my second. Had a '94 then bought an '08 new. Never had trouble with either of them. I was looking at getting an '11 a couple of months ago and the salesman told me this was the last year. He said the same thing, the F-100 will be the replacement.

yikes Danby avoid Danby - noisy, do a terrible job and the shortest cycle takes well over an hour. The pluses are it uses about a tablespoon of water and when the parts break, they're really cheap to replace. A new wash arm was $3.00.

if they're washable, try soaking in TSP (tri-sodium phosphate). Mix a strong, hot solution and soak for at least a day. TSP will eventually lift paint off anything, but it takes time and patience - I use it in restoration of painted over doorknobs or heat vents, etc. Fabric's more difficult...
