Saw an Oasis ad on TV today

The process differs depending on which cycle you select. For most, the 'order of operation' is 1) disk agitation (the 2-second cycle alternating directions) - this process is effective in moving the clothes and getting a good roll-over effect. This cycle may run from 5 - 10 minutes (my guess -...

Saw an Oasis ad on TV today

As a Harmony owner, let me correct the description of the disk action. The cycle of the disk action is about 2 seconds, and alternates directions. The drum action is the one where it goes one direction for a longer period of time before reversing - probably about a 15-20 second cycle for that...

    Sears Oasis-Have a look

FWIW, the agitator disk in the Harmony doesn't go one way for a long time, then another direction for a long time. It alternates with about a 2 second cycle.

    Sears Oasis-Have a look

WP has already announced their version WP has already announced their version of the Oasis, called Cabrio. I have seen no information that would explain the differences between the KM and WP versions.

Oasis or Cabrio?? Knows someone something about it??

I agree - I love my old 1991 Kenmore T/L with the agitator. If I has my druthers, we would have moved it up to the new second floor laundry, but unfortunately it won't fit (width is 58", old machines are 29" wide, new ones are 27"). I can't say I've ever had an issue with the agitator...

Oasis or Cabrio?? Knows someone something about it??

I second laundromat's take. As a Harmony owner, I've watched more than my share of loads to see what's going on. If the Cabrio/Oasis works on the same basis, launromat has it right. The wash plate is more than effective, in combination with the rotating tub, to roll clothes over and get an...

Is the GE Harmony being discontinued?

It looks like the original model (9350) is being discontinued in favor of the updated one (9360) with the internal heater and glass lid. I haven't seen any evidence that the newer model is on its way out - in fact, I'd look for updates/enhancements to compete with the new Oasis/Cabrio.

    Whirlpool Cabrio

Cabrio = Oasis IIRC, the Cabrio is WP's version of the Oasis, which they build for Sears. There are pictures posted of the Oasis, including a look inside the basket. It is a vertical axis machine.

    Poor Speed Queen "HomeStyle" Line

I heard from the sales manager at one of our local chains that SQ will be rolling out a new line in 2007. It will feature a larger door to better compete with the rest of the FL's out there (the SQ rep had told him that their research/feedback from customers was that the small door opening...

    Poor Speed Queen "HomeStyle" Line

The timer comment speaks to CR's lack of credibility. I think it is true that any 'knob' that turns both ways is really an electronic control disguised as a knob for the comfort/familiarity of the consumer. SQ should have gotten a reliability plus for not using electronics that are the source of...

    Poor Speed Queen "HomeStyle" Line

CR ignores real world issues Where in CR's tests are any mention of vibration??? Consumers have had issues with this for years - it's one of the most important decision point for many. But CR has zero in their test process. Their criteria hasn't changed despite the growing use of second floor...

    Poor Speed Queen "HomeStyle" Line

CR hammered the SQ dryer for its noise level (and no moisture sensor) You're right, they do have a model with an internal heater, but it's the one with the rear controls; we were planning on using pedestals, which would have made reaching the controls difficult, so we never really considered it...

    Poor Speed Queen "HomeStyle" Line

Maybe SQ deserved it I was seriously considering the SQ model last month. The salespeople I spoke with were very knowledgeble - maybe too knowledgable! The consistent story I got was that the SQ's really are basically commercial machines with minor changes for the consumer market. Plusses are...

Help- Need new washer- front or top?? recommendations?

USA User Error!! I suspect the big difference between USA experiences and European has to do with our unfortunate habit of demanding quick and easy. We throw whatever into the machine, pick a random cycle ('normal' sounds nice today), throw some powder in (maybe the right amount, in the right...

Buying a new machine, want to wash a King Comforter

Harmony also? The GE Harmony is another option - more capacity (per DOE) than even the larger new LG (3.53 for Harmony, 3.47 for new large LG, 3.21 for 2277 LG), similar wash system that the Kenmore Oasis / Whirlpool Cabrio will be coming out with.
