I just picked up another mid-80s Maytag the other day and to my horror it began banging loudly during the spin cycle. The guy I bought it from said he had disconnected the lid switch but he apparently forgot to remove the switch. When I opened up the machine to find out what all the banging...

Congratulations! What a great find! As regards the drain hose, you can pick up a new one that has an adjustable fitting at any hardware store. Good luck and looking forward to seeing more pics/vids!
