Some years back I bought a box of A&H powder. It cleaned well enough, but there was something about the scent I couldn't put my finger on. Then it hit: the detergent had the same scent as the A&H cat litter we were also using. I haven't had the desire to use their detergent since.

At some point I was instructed to wash AND rinse them in warm water, as rinsing in cold will make the rubber less flexible and prone to cracking and disintegration. I don't remember where that recommendation came from, but it has worked for me with the few rubber-backed mats we've had.

Cold water washing has its place. It's fine for fabrics that only need freshening, or even fabrics that are merely dusty. But it will not aid in emulsifying oily/greasy soils, and even if the detergent is a cold water formula the oily soils will likely not adequately flush away in the ensuing...

Searsbest that washer was practically the official washer of the neighborhood I grew up in. Nearly every other house had that model washer. It's great to see one looking like it was just delivered new! Nice job. :)

Very nice! I'm extra jealous. Living in a city center house I can only dream of having that extra room for multiple machines. What's coming next?! :)
