Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

What a neat production. Interestingly, it appears that Whirlpool attempted to showcase the recycling of scrap appliances that were mostly produced by them.

Outside of the Philco dryer seen in several shots, and possibly a 00/02 series Maytag dryer, most of the items appeared to have been Whirlpool or Sears appliances.

Re; recycling. My roots are from the western Pa. coal and steel region. I think by 1974 the blast furnace pig iron pollution control scrubbers were updated. Labor costs were climbing. Not a bad thing because more spending went back into the economy, but companies found cheaper labor in Japan. Domestic steel making shifted to more recycling s as the pig iron plants closed.

Seems to be A LOT of Whirlpools and Kenmores in the scrap pile.

Meanwhile, don’t see many Maytags (at least from what I can tell) in comparison to everything else. Either didn’t sell many in that particular region, or they just won’t die.
