Those Seeger units never seem to die. My grandparents bought theirs new in 1950. It is still running and ice cold inside... Been plugged in at the same spot for 67 continuous years...with the odd weather-related power outage being the exception.
Listed in Las Vegas, but apparently it is actually in Chicago:

A few apologies in advance on this: 1) Photos are not great...it's how they came to me. 2) I missed these by ONE DAY...which means any of you interested in them missed out too! They were only about 2 blocks from my house. Damn. However, the one photo with text annotations in it does mention...
Agreed, Ralph. Missing egg crate wouldn't bother me, either. But I think she's a die-hard completist. She wants to have her GE as factory original and complete as possible...
I met a woman today who is a fellow vintage refrigerator afficionado--she's looking high and low for a blue egg crate/egg holder for her '65 GE. If any of ya have a spare, let me know if I can put you in touch with her. THX!
Ralph, I lOVE that: "Surf-over"...HAHAH! Exactly my sentiments as well... I didn't even know I got Hallmark channel...found it by mistake last week and caught an ad for Rockford Files marathon. I HAD to watch---it's been nearly 40 years since I'd seen the show.
Ralph--It's HMMHD (Hallmark channel?) #565 on DirecTV (at least here in PHX).
I have it set on DVR--a couple 1974 episodes feature it pretty heavily--good enough that you can make out the "combination" script on the door and several scenes with the door wide open showing the interior.
Hoping Ralph rp2813 has been watching the old Rockford Files being run on TV this week....the '57 GE Combination gets alot more screen time than I remember it doing back in the day! Ralph, it's a twin to your own GE--rotating shelving and all.
Looks like a NICE one. 80 bucks.

Ken~I am thinking it was either outside Buffalo or somewhere in the Finger Lakes region....well over 25 years back. I just remember that fridge and what a time warp that little hotel felt like at the time.
General Air Conditioning Corp out of LA
Absolutely vintage. Years back, I stayed in one of those old cabin-style motels on the side of a road in NY...this is what was in the room. Probably late 30s or early 40s. Pics for archives:
Excellent deal--and so worth the drive to get it, I'd say. Thanks for saving it!! BTW, what is the story behind the refrigerator at the far left of the shot?
Phil--I have no idea of model except it's a Kenmore. Ralph just mentioned me in there because I have a thing for black acrylic and aluminum trim on a refrigerator :D
