2014 Amana here and I always use Normal with Hi Temp or Heavy with High Temp and Cascade Platinum. Rarely is there anything on the filter. I check it about every 2 weeks.

I used that disposal so many times growing up at my aunt's house. I always thought hers was from 1974 or 75 though. She used it for almost 30 years before it bit the dust and was replaced with an ISE Model 17

Maxwell House or Chock Full Of Nuts whichever is on sale. I prefer Maxwell since it is a bit richer. I use a Bunn as my daily driver

Cascade Platinum and Finish Quantum are my go to for a full or heavy wash. I also use Cascade Complete powder for when I use the one hour wash cycle.

I believe the 1200 was the top rated dishwasher over the Kitchen Aid in the 80s. I'd get it.

My parents have had a septic and a disposal since 1991. They only use it after washing dishes to clear out whatever was left on the plates or pans or soup bowls. They've never had a problem.
