Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

This is a tough one... In terms of design, I am a big fan of GE's top-loader, impeller-wash machines.  The challenges of loading them keep the neurons firing  LOL

In terms of performance, I'd go with the 14 series Kitchen Aid - simple, but thorough : wash wash rinse rinse rinse dry.

I can't pick just one!!

WP-600, the first Maytag Jet-Clean Reverse Rack

No surprise here. I can still remember the day in 1969 when I opened the top of one of these in the Gimbel's Herald Square Appliance department. I couldn't believe how big (capacious) this machine was. I'm still looking for first-generation models of these should anybody come across one. These were/are incredible machines; IIRC,CU was over-the-top in their ratings for this dishwasher.

If I were to go vintage, it would probably be a KitchenAid 14 series Superba.  It has a retro look but was the first to have next generation improvements.  It would have to be a spare machine in a secondary kitchen setting though, because . . .

As far as performance goes, nothing I've ever owned could beat my Miele Futura.

state of the art electronic

Must come in a plethora of colors and have 3 level wash.  Also needs to hint at tricking us into thinking it's a fine piece of crafted furniture with sleek handsome plastic wood on the panel.   1981  It sure was fun though.

My favourite is still the 1966 Constructa G12. It's a 67cm, 26,something inch wide machine with four small spray arms at the bottom and one big spray arm under the upper rack. Siemens had a similar model, but that one didn't have a window. With a heating element of around 3000 Watts and a powerful pump it will blast off everything!

3000 watts in a home DW!

That's some real heating power. The Hobart I posted has a 10 KW 240/60/1 wash tank heater and a 13 KW 240/60/3 Booster that can boost 110F water to 180F in 60 seconds.
Commercial dish machines use an incredible amount of heat but it is needed for sanitization.
