    $250 Fine for Smoking

You have to be careful... very careful, and I agree with the consideration of another layer of laws. Let me first say that I hate smoking, I have asthma too and I hate "smoking rooms" in a hotel. That said, I always think, what next? As you know, politicians love to create new laws, I don't...

    Remember Me?

Ken...Audiokarma There is something indeed up with their website. I joined there last year, and my account is still active. But whenever I go to the site on this machine, the one I have used for years, it says my IP address is blocked. I have had emails back and forth with the administrator...

    Remember Me?

That looks great... and of course, nice touch with that "TV ashtray"/objet d'art, you didn't think that would squeak by me, did you? Ok question, this may have been answered in the past. Is the "halo" flourescent lighting underneath, or something else?

    Slightly Political.....

My thoughts on this apply across the board. Generally speaking, I think that people that come to this country should adapt to OUR societal norms, not expect to change our society to suit them. This applies to language, and rules. If someone is offended that we need to see everyone's face for...

    Beltman Shipping won`t ship !! Help !!!

Just curious... Why would they care if its an antique? Why would it make a difference? The weight is the same, the work for the cargo is the same. I can almost see the opposite being valid, that a carried would NOT want to carry an antique. What kind of BS is it that is MUST be an antique? I...

Ok I love my vintage Zenith TV but....

Thanks Hreodbeorht That looks like mine exactly. So it is the Hinsdale 5026W, as mine is definately walnut and not cherry. Timeframe fits...they likely got the 1964 model in early 1965 when we moved. They even mention Rick's point about the hand crafted chassis. It does say something about...

Ok I love my vintage Zenith TV but....

That Predicta.... Is almost exactly like mine, but I don't have the UHF. Mine is in outstanding original condition. I bought it for $300 about 9 years ago. I used to have it set up down the wall from my new Predicta, which is our everyday TV, but concerns of my son pulling it down, both for...

Ok I love my vintage Zenith TV but....

Not exactly the same I had assumed that all the electronics were identical. Evidently, my model is one step up, and features the amazing "Peak Pix" control, whatever that is. Perhaps mine was TOL, or his has some other features that I have not figured out yet. Interesting...my control panel is...

Ok I love my vintage Zenith TV but....

Misc comments Last night, went out to the back house and fired up both the Predicta and the Zenith. Predicta has a great screen image (just using crummy onboard antennas on both) but scratchy sound, again might just be because of the antenna. The Zenith has an ok pic but needs some adjustment...

Ok I love my vintage Zenith TV but....

...this seems insane. I have this EXACT same TV in just a tad slightly different cabinet (it amazes me that they made so many cabinets that were just a touch different). Look at the price it went for! I don't care what he replaced, my picture looks just the same. Shill bidder or what? Old...

The end of Kodachrome super 8

Super 8mm nut here myself I mourn the loss of Kodachrome too, especially when Dwayne's processes it cheaply! I have also been shooting REGULAR 8mm "Cinechrome" (same thing) and been really enjoying it, but the larger Super8mm with Kodachrome is amazing. I have a roll of 64T, its replacement...

    Model train lovers LOOK!

Today was a great day. Only a few miles from where I live are the Pomona Fairgrounds. I visit there a few times a year for the vintage car shows/swap meats they have about 9 months out of the year. I have never been for the actual fair, or for some of the permanent exhibits. I had heard for...

A couple of funny vintage ad's

Scott thank you! I never knew they were still made. Guess what I am getting when my faucet wears out? Re: the ads... Design was SO cool back then. The laundry ad makes me want to crawl in there, enjoy the blue, and play with that washer!

    Heywood you look at this!

Peter Almost all HW is stamped inside the drawers, or on the back, etc. There are exceptions to this. Post a picture and we can see if we can match it up in some of the reference materials I have.....

    I think I'm in Paradise!

My dad's project You may find this interesting. Anyone remember Schober organs? My dad built a Schober organ in 1971/72. It is their "theater organ" and he still has it. It came in a kit, and it was electronic but no ICs. Dozens of circuit boards which had to be soldered together. It came in...

    Tuesday is SNAPPER Day

Thanks guys.... A few responses... Frigilux, on turning the mower over, the dealer instructed me as follows. You can always tip the engine so the "spark plub is up in the air", which for most of these mowers, is the push handle straight down. This is what I did to clean out the wet grass...
