    Vintage GE Mini Basket

I don't think the Mini-Basket works in any of the pre 1963 GE washers. The older ones had a solid tub, while the later are perforated. I doubt it would fit the agitator either. There was more than one style of MN, and I think they're agitator specific.

    06-25-2025 Findings

During that time period, Whirlpool was having either Roper or Kelvinator supply their ranges, depending on the model. I'm nearly certain this one was made by Roper in their Newark, OH factory. It is nearly a twin to many of the Kenmore 30" ranges from that time.

    Post-War Westinghouse Fridge Questions

I agree with Supersuds. The only models I saw in ads that had this cabinet styling were 1949 and 1950. Some sizes had full width freezers, and others like your picture. I don't know why they included that Sears model tag, as Westinghouse had nothing to do with their Coldspot refrigerators, which...

    Vintage Food Advertisements: Part Twenty-three

I saw Heinz Spaghetti earlier this week at Jungle Jim's. It was in the British foods section. I don't think it's made in the US anymore.

RCA On The Move - 16mm Film

That was an interesting film, probably made in 1966 or so, based on the cars, clothing, and hairstyles. Such a shame it's suffering from the dreaded "Eastmancolor fade", that causes prints to shift to magenta or pink. I guess RCA didn't want to go to the expense of Technicolor or Kodachrome...

White-Westinghouse Spacemates Washer - Help needed urgently!

The dryer is the older of the two, made before the WCI buyout of Westinghouse. Is there some sort of bracket holding them together at the back?

    Early Hotpoint DW

That looks like it's about a 1960 model. When I saw "early Hotpoint DW", I was expecting a 1937 or 1938 model!

I knew these bright white LED’s would come out and get put somewhere

I've had excellent results from the Sylvania GLASS LED bulbs I bought at Menards about 2 or 3 years ago. They are made in USA, evidently in Versailles, KY. The only one that has failed was damaged when the light fell. Previous to that I had a couple Sylvania PLASTIC bulbs that weren't much good.

    Vintage Appliance Advertisements: Part Thirty

Columbia Records also had a pressing plant in Kings Mills, OH for several years in the late 1940s through the early 1950s. The building complex was built around 1916, and was the Peters Cartridge Co. factory. It was mostly vacant for decades, but was recently renovated into condos and restaurant.

    Gas ranges with electric broilers

It would make more sense if they were equipped with a 20 amp cord and plug, which would allow up to 1920 watts @ 120 volts. The NEC has required kitchen receptacle circuits (except for refrigerators) to be 20 amps for many years.

Evolution of H-Axis Washing Machines From Semi to Fully Automatic

Launderess mentioned nylon, which reminded me of when Qiana was all the rage. My mom bought bed sheets made of that fabric, and my dad said it was like sleeping on a bed covered with Saran Wrap. I had a shirt made of it, and didn't care much for it.

    NYT on Induction Cooking

I've looked into purchasing a backup generator, and found that the widely advertised Generac is something you might want to avoid. Those have 3600 rpm air cooled engines. A better choice is a unit with a liquid cooled 1800 rpm engine, as they tend to be longer lasting, but obviously more...

Before Walmart, Target and Kmart, there was Sage's Complete Shopping

You mentioned quadraphonic, so I know you're talking about the mid 1970s. My parents asked me what I wanted for my HS graduation present in 1974, and I said a Zenith Quadraphonic portable record player that I'd seen when we were shopping at Pogue's a few weeks before. It was out of stock, so we...

    Wiremold (surface mount wiring conduit)

I've used both Wiremold and a competing product called Walkerduct, which was made by Walker-Parkersburg Textron. I slightly preferred the Walkerduct, as it was a lay in system, rather than pull in. That company was bought out by Wiremold a few years ago, and most of their line discontinued.

    Cool Vintage GE Stove

That looks to be a nice range, Bellalaundry. It would be a 1959 or later model, as the 1957-58 models used a different clock that was round. 1959 was the first year for the rectangular clock, at least in the US. Not sure if the Canadian models got the new style clock then, or not. The cabinet on...

    Number PULEAZE! Part Seven:

The 1966 AT&T ad made me think of my friend Mike. I met him around 1982 when he was an ESS tech for Cincinnati Bell Telephone. At the time he was 36, recently divorced, and had three kids. Unfortunately I lost contact with him a couple years later, and didn't locate him until 2021. I sent him a...

The most stylish "Cadillac of washers"?

I've always liked Frigidaire's Honey Beige color. Those machines look good in it.

They came in the following colors: White, Canary Yellow, Petal Pink, Turquoise Green, Cadet Blue, Woodtone Brown, and Brushed Chrome.

    Magic Chef DW

That ad is out of the Jackson, MS newspaper. I vaguely remember Sheppard Building Supply, as it was a few blocks from my aunt's house. I think that was one of the places we went when she was looking for a new dishwasher in 1968, but ended up getting it at Sears.
