Hoover new wave motors, could they make a higher drum speed than 1600rpm?

size and G forge Interesting thread. I also understand that the size of the spinning basket will make a difference with water extraction. Something to do with G force. There is a calculation I believe. The bigger the basket the more G force = more water extraction. My F&P TL has a big basket...

The debate of which is best front or top loading washer design

I have to agree with you Launderess. FL machines are more efficient and wash, rinse and spin better than TL machines but I do have a soft spot for my TL washers especially my GE filter flo. I do use them occasionally. The main gripe people seem to have with FLs is the issue with smelly mildew...

The debate of which is best front or top loading washer design

Here in Australia we are lucky and have a fairly big range of both front and top loading washers to chose from. I have a large laundry room and I have 2 front loaders and 4 top loaders. I really like the choice. In the UK I am pretty sure you cannot buy regular top loaders any more. Only those...

The debate of which is best front or top loading washer design

Saw this article from Huffington Post. Experts passing judgement on which is better. Top loading or front loading washer design. Nothing new really. Was a little worried about stacking a front load washer on top of a drier. Sure that wouldn’t end well. Can you imagine an out of balance spin...

SQ - Considering switching from TL to FL. Need advice

To add my penny worth Front load washers in my opinion out do TL machines most of the time. As mentioned, they use far less water and wash is a much higher concentration of detergent, They clean and rinse very well. I would avoid a front load washer that does not have its own water heater. The...

LG ThinQ draining wash water too soon

It was set to do a pre wash which it did then filled for the main wash heated to 60C (140F) then pumped out with 2 plus hours on the display remaining. It just tumbled with no water until I stopped the cycle and reset it to another cycle. I suspect there is a fault. It has done it every time...

LG ThinQ draining wash water too soon

My LG front load washer has started to drain the wash water after only 10 to 15 minutes in to the wash. It seems once it gets to the correct temperature it decides to pump out. After that it just tumbles with no water in it and another 2 plus hours on the display. Does it on the cotton cycle...

    Transparent Dishwasher

My friend’s mum had a Lyly Bet draining board dishwashers way back in the 70s. It was so cool. There is another post here on AW with the sales brochure from the 70s. I really wanted one and an automatic front load washing machine when I was a kid in the 70s but I had to make do with no...

    Transparent Dishwasher

That was so cool. Thank you for posting Unimatic. I would love a DW with a transparent door. Only issue is that the inside of a dishwasher can get pretty disgusting, especially when it takes a day or so to fill it up and start the cycle. If I recall correctly quite a few years ago there was a DW...

Simpson Dryer - the latest acquisition

My GE Filter Flo from South Sydney Hi Astorobsession, This was a thread I created when I got the filter Flo quite a few years ago. I no longer have it, ran out of space unfortunately. It had a few issues and it started to leak again and kept tripping the electrics in the house. I still have a...

Simpson Dryer - the latest acquisition

I picked up a second hand GE Filter Flo in South Sydney a few years back a they had a big Simpson American style drier. It was for sale too but I didn’t buy it. Wish I had now. Not sure if it worked off a regular power outlet or had to be hardwired in to 30amp outlet. A nice find Astorobssesion.

LG ThinQ washer takes in water at end of final spin. Is this normal?

Thanks Guys, that is very reassuring. Jon, that is the exact same thing my LG does when it has slowed the spin down from 1400. 3 short bursts of water then drum stops and then jiggles to loosen the load. Not sure if I think it is a good idea or not. As I tend to always use the dryer probably...

LG ThinQ washer takes in water at end of final spin. Is this normal?

I have a new LG washer and just noticed at the end of the final spin when it is coasting down it opens the cold inlet valve three times and lets in cold water for a second or so each time. Is this normal? Most of the water goes down the inside of the glass door from the soap dispenser but some...

    Hoover 3314L

Hi Hoover 3314L. I did have an Aussie Hoover TT that was similar. It had no heating element and the spin-rinse was via a hose from the cold tap that fitted into the lid of the spinner. It did have the autorinse same as your TT. It had centrifugal pump that was not as powerful as yours. I ended...

    Hoover 3314L

Thanks for posting. That twin tub takes me back to the 1970s when my mum had that exact model. I used to do all the family laundry back then when I was a kid. Great to see you have the original hose and drain pipe. I think ours lasted until the early 80s and it blew the electrics. Then we got...

    Japanese laundromats

Hi Adam I have been to Japan a few times and checked out a few laundromats. They have some interesting machines. Mostly toploaders with impeller in the base. One had really cool horizontal axis topload washers which also tumble dried after the wash. Can't say I have seen any regular front load...

Help needed with F&P dishwasher draw not pumping out

Hi DADoES, Model # DD608DFTX7 I would love to run the unit with the draw open so I can see if the impeller is running in reverse when it is attempting to pump out but so far how to do that has eluded me. The lock seem pretty tamper proof but any suggestions how to bypass the lock gratefully...

Help needed with F&P dishwasher draw not pumping out

It has malfunctioned again The dish drawer was working fine after I put it back in situ but after about 5 cycles the tub had water in the bottom again. It tries to pump out but fails. It is noisy when pumping out and always has been. The impeller turns really easily by hand so seems there is...

Help needed with F&P dishwasher draw not pumping out

No fault codes and the impeller in the sump looks good, no problems that I can see. I put it back in place and seems to be working fine but still noisy when pumps out. It is not noisy aside the whoosh of water when washing. Good to know not Lilly to be a motor fault.

Help needed with F&P dishwasher draw not pumping out

Thank guys, very helpful suggestions. Model # DD608DFTX7 I managed to get the plastic protector off the bottom of the draw and disconnected the drain pipe from the base of the draw. There is a rubber non return flap valve so water wont syphon back in (hence not being able to force water down...
