    Kumbacha Teas

Bobby Here's an interesting article from the Fungi Perfecti website. I consider them to be the experts in any mushroomy subject. They sell mushroom kits for the home grower. In essence, the artice says you are playing russian roulette with contamination when you brew this stuff...

    Introducing The Lustron Home

The prototype for the Lustron was the Armco-Ferro House, built for the Century of Progress International Exposition (1933 to 1934 World's Fair). It is now in the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Five of the prototype houses from the fair were bought by the developer of Beverly Shores, and...

    Making Ivory Flakes

180 loads from one bar soap? I searched for the recipe, and found one for Duggar's liquid laundry soap. It makes 10 gallons of liquid soap from one bar of Fels Naptha. Good grief, its a recipe for homeopathic soap.

    Thank You Friends

I want to thank you all for your prayers and kind thoughts when I needed them. My Mom, Betty, was a wonderful woman, I was blessed to have her as a Mother. She was kind and generous, just a joy to be around. I miss her terribly. If you want to read a little about Mom, visit her Hope Through...

Dear friends, say a prayer for me

I lost my dear, dear, Mother on Monday Jan. 12. She was 92 years young. It was very sudden, and she died peacefully. The funeral is next week in Philadelphia. Needless to say, I may not be talking with you wonderful folks for awhile. Your friend, Lisa.

Pulse Pure Power Tabs . . . NOT

Great Customer Service! I just had a call back from the manufacturer. The nice woman I spoke to said the product is being reformulated, as may customers have had the same problem. Some users have the problem, many do not. She was very interested to learn that Lemishine removed the film from the...

Pulse Pure Power Tabs . . . NOT

Saw a new dishwasher detergent at the Dollar General last week, Pulse Pure Power tabs. The price was reasonable, 35 tabs for $3.50. So I thought to give them a try. They are a solid blue tablet, individually wrapped. First problem, they won't fit in the Bosch. Well I bashed it with a hammer, and...

Ariston alert for North Eastern Ohio

In case any one is interested, I was in Marc's in Mayfield yesterday and they have brand new Ariston Platinum washers for $200. I did not see a matching dryer, but they may be available in other stores. Gee, you never know what will show up at a Marc's store.

    Woolworth's Sandwich Menu

Sure you can find that kind of hot lunch today, just live out in rural Ohio like I do. Other than McD's, we have lots of mom and pop homestyle food restaurants. The food is generally meat and potatoes with a vegetable side, usually with a salad and rolls also. One even gives you all that plus a...

    What's your favorite Christmas Album?

Seymour Swine and the Squealers MattL, That's the song, it just cracks me up. I did not know it was not Mel Blanc. The DJ who played the song the first time I heard it, said it was Mel Blanc. After some searching I found out the Seymour Swine is Mark McCollum, who also did "Ozzy Fudd". Heavy...

    What's your favorite Christmas Album?

another song "Blue Christmas" sung by Mel Blanc as Porky Pig. The funniest version of this Chrismas song I have ever heard. You can even hear the engineer in the background just cracking up. I remember standing in a dollar store a few years ago, and this song came on. Me and another woman just...

Nearly a month with the Homemade Laundry Powder...

My recipe I've been using this one for years. It's a powder, as I find cooking a liquid soap just way too much to do. 1 large (14 oz) bar Zote soap 1 1/2 cups borax 1 1/2 cups washing soda or to use other soaps: 2 parts grated soap 1 part borax 1 part washing soda Grate the soap. Grating...

    I H 'fridge on C/L

IH merged with Case in 1985 and formed Case IH. They in turn merged with New Holland Ag in 1999 to form CNH Global. (New Holland made farm implements, which were sold at Ford tractor dealers. Ford later bought them, then sold the controlling interest to Fiat.) So if you go looking at compact...

Following its Parents death a decade earlier....

I did not know Woolworths was still in business anywhere else in the world. I miss the US Woolworths stores, fondly known where I grew up as "the five and ten". Were they the UK branch of the old US Woolworths?

Nearly a month with the Homemade Laundry Powder...

I've been using the homemade stuff for about five years, when the soap based liquid I was using vanished from the shelves. Before that I was a faithful customer of Ivory Snow powder. I've been using Zote, but my stash of it is getting low. I may try modern Fels when I run out. By the way, Fels...

How do you wash a baseball cap?

All our ball caps seem to be top shelf dishwasher safe. They are damp coming our of the Bosch. I just put them on a folded towel, reshape the cap and let them dry in a sunny window. In the summer they go outside in the sun to dry. I have never used one of those plastic gizmos. Lisa

Let's Settle This Once And For All!

I grew up in the Philadelphia area, and called it soda. In the summer we would go to the Pittsburgh, PA area to visit my Mom's side of the family. My cousins would all make fun of me for calling it soda, they called it pop. I also got razzed for saying sneakers, they are tennies in western PA.
