Classic UK Appliances & Kitchens - March 2015

Credaplan Al It may even be a bit later than mid 70's, the oven door pattern is the same as on my Aunts 40073 Carefree, purchased in late 79 early 80 to replace an original Carefree from the early 50's. I'm intrigued by the new BBC2 series starting tomorrow 'Time For Dinner' the trailer shows...

    Parnall dryer D59

Richard I've not done much with it at the moment it's buried in the garage. I cleaned it up as it was a bit 'fragrant' as it was covered in the residue of a lifetime's grease from the cooker it stood next to and the fact it's previous owner smoked 30 a day. Ian

Vintage Australian adverts - fantastic resource!

English Electric Australia Paul The EE Rail Traction Division certainly had a plant in Australia making the same range of diesel engines as the UK and building locomotives, I think they also had the Power Generation Division for power station equipment so I wouldn't be too surprised if the...

Wiring Richard Your wiring looks a bit better than on the example I was given last year! Ian

UK Classic Appliances - February 2015

Super Comet Al I never thought for one moment that a Super Comet would suddenly appear, the only other one I've seen is lurking in the large object store at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. I wish I could find somewhere for it. The 1960's blue kitchen got me thinking, with that...

UK Classic Appliances - February 2015

Al I quite like the Caron Capri but unfortunately it's a bit too big for the kitchen, if I had room for something that size it'd have to be a late 50's Creda Super Comet, with the colour change lights on the hob controls. I saw the Classic but couldn't make up my mind if it was an early 90 or...

UK Classic Appliances - February 2015

Kanyda Kitchen Al That Kanyda kitchen takes me back, my Aunt had the very same sink unit, the wringer for the Countess lived in the bottom right hand cupboard! I do like that Belling Classic but I'd love a Double 80, they look much 'classier' than my daily driver, a late model 90 in two tone...

"Where did i leave those killer heels,,,,,"

More Digression (Sorry) Love the clip Paul, looks like a Belling Classic 60 in there too. It does make me wonder if these Mastertwins are still sitting somewhere in the back of a props store? Was granny Doris Hare? I've been trawling round You Tube recently and have come across a widebody...

"Where did i leave those killer heels,,,,,"

I too can't wait to see this in action, they're great looking machines and sadly too rare. Mathew Wasting time? It's more historical research :-) Just need to find the episode with Betty and the Keymatic! Ian

"Where did i leave those killer heels,,,,,"

Bless This House Keith The Mastertwin appears somewhere around series 4, have a search on youtube for the episode Who's Minding The Baby, about five minutes in, it's next to the Hotpoint fridge. Ian

A Visitation to Hallowed Hoover, Philips and Bendixxii - "Croeso i Cymru"

Mike That looks great, shame you couldn't get into the factory and pick some Keymatic parts up! Look forward to seeing the video, I love that Philips. Ian

    Keymatic help

Alex I'll second what Mike says, take it easy do a bit at a time and don't get too disheartened when (if?) things go a little awry. I have to say that when it goes right its great. Managed to get mine to actually do things a couple of weeks ago, many thanks here to Mathew and Mike, the timer now...

    Keymatic help

Door Seals I'll second what Paul says about door seals, mine still has its original turquoise one,in places it's the texture of a biscuit and has a large hole in the bottom :-( I did wonder about the feasibility of getting one made but I fear that the cost may be prohibitive. Do we know if...

    Keymatic help

3224 Congratulations on your new purchase, you'll no doubt have hours of fun getting her up and running again. Having only recently got my 3224 I'm on the look out for a door boot, as I suspect several people are. There have been some keyplates on ebay, but I think that there are different ones...

Congratulations Lee, a great job. Looking forward to seeing some more. Ian

Bendix automatic Home Washer MODEL D (511)

Another Odd Idea! Lee If you wanted to keep using the original valves would a feed valve for a urinal flush tank provide a low enough pressure constant flow? They always seem to use a very slow feed to fill the tank. It'd probably be a lot more work than rigging up a couple of modern valves...

    Washer brand

I'd agree with Candy. I initially thought Spinarinse too Steve, but looking closer I think it might be a Debonair Autopump as the hose exit's on the wrong side for a Hoover and the cable clips look as if they are painted body colour. Ian

Bendix automatic Home Washer MODEL D (511)

Lee/Mathew Really bizarre idea here, I'm wondering if the flow into the float chamber is some kind of leak off device from the valves in case you forget to turn the taps off it keeps the pressure down in the hoses as I notice on the instruction card there appears to be instructions for...
