Before my bendix washer lt developed a heater problem it developed a dryer problem so I picked up this parnall dryer. It was made in 1959 and was the sellers parents wedding present. It has been in use until a few years ago. I've decided to do a little refurb on it.

It's a very sturdy well built machine. The door was loose and needed propping up with a stick. But all it needed was the screws tightened. There was understandably a lot of fluff but all in all its in good condition. The wiring had perished and upon disturbing it it crumbled revealing live wires so it needed new flex and new flex to the motor and a new junction box.

The motor

The motor deserves a little post of its own. It's really well built. It has lubtication valves the simply require oil squirting in, which lubricate the bearings. The wiring was shot but it cleaned up well

Thanks

Hi Al. I've emailed David in lancs to see if he's any ideas. I will eventually find workshop manual and scan relevant pages to put up on here for those cleverer than me to decipher!
In the mean time it's hoovermatic twin tub. My kitchen is looking like an electrical retailer from the 60s !

Thanks Richard

Hi Richard.

I first saw one of these machines on a leaflet for fabric conditioner, which came with the instruction manual for my grandmas Electra A3E02 washing machine.

The cover had it in a box, with one side flap opened and I always thought as a kid what a weird 'washing machine' it was :-)

Your machine looks in fine form - that motor, in lovely polished black. Lovely engineering.

Really hope that the Bendix LT gets sorted. Fingers crossed.
Paul

I've not done much with it at the moment it's buried in the garage. I cleaned it up as it was a bit 'fragrant' as it was covered in the residue of a lifetime's grease from the cooker it stood next to and the fact it's previous owner smoked 30 a day.
