    Home Dry Cleaning

coin op Didn't Frigidaire have a coin-op dry cleaning machine? Did it use these same chemicals? How did it work? Did it recover and re-use the same chemicals for more loads? Todd

    Front Loader

I may be in the wrong forum here, but it would only be a year or two off, so bear with me. In the mid to late 1980's, Sears sold a small front loader for a short time. It was not marketed as portable; it was intended to be permanently hooked up. This was years before they started selling their...

1950 Westinghouse Laundromat in Metropolitian Tampa

Congrats Paul: Congratulations on your new machine!!! The shipping can be a bit pricey, but its worth it if you are getting a dream machine. As far as the partner thing goes, I had the same issue at home ... now, each time I get a washer, he gets a watch. Its a fair trade off and his hobby...

Minnesota Marriage and Family Protection Act

The Basics Gary and I were married in San Diego on 8.20.08 ... although they put a stop to future marriages, they still have to recognize our legal marriage. For those who don't know, I have been in the hospital for the past month ... the big difference this time is that we attached a copy of...

    Sound level

It seems to me that the Frigidaire washers were/are always louder than other machines. Did the noise level vary much each time they changed design (unimatic, multimatic, rollermatic)? Which is the quietest? What's your input? Todd

    Westinghouse Indexing Washtubs

Thanks Harry, thanks for the pics of the Hoover. I had never seen any type of Hoover other than the twin tubs. It really does resemble the Westinghouse; perhaps it was some type of joint venture or re-badging. You are correct in saying that the tub in the Hoover is definitely larger. Thanks...

    Westinghouse Indexing Washtubs

Decent turnover Years ago I had a Westinghouse top loader and found it to clean well. The turnover was good if you didn't overload it, but that's true for all washers. It was fun to watch; but I did not have the two agitators ... that gentle agitator looks as though it would have good movement...

    1-18 Bleach Dispenser

I May Let me check my treasure chest and see. A while back, I bought a box of miscellaneous Frigidaire items and I think I have one in there ... if so, its yours. Todd

FOR SALE: 1964 Hotpoint Solid Tub Silhouette

Turnover These really turn the clothes over well and the fountain filter is fun because it filters on the forward and the reverse stroke, unlike the Norge machines. Its also fun to hear and feel as it throws the spin water against the outer cabinet (which is the outer tub on these). Todd

FOR SALE: 1964 Hotpoint Solid Tub Silhouette

Like Mine I have that Hotpoint Set that I got a few years ago which has the black agitator and is a few years newer than this one. My console doesn't have as many bells and whistles and the capacity is just a bit larger. I still need to work on the spin brake because she wants to spin while...

    Apex

I have seen the POD on the Apex and I know that it is Robert's dream machine. Does anyone have any other literature or info other than that POD that we see every so often? This machine fascinates me because I truly cannot picture the wash action in my head ... sorry to sound dumb, but inquiring...

    Wedding

Next ... Jon, I hope that you and Tony have your "special day" soon. Bob, congrats to you and your partner on your marriage, too. Folks don't realize that its not the idea of "marriage" in the traditional sense, but rather, sharing the same rights as others. We wanted to make sure that each...

    Wedding

Yeah!!! You guys are too sweet and, yes, the truth be known, there was a bun in the oven! (take it however you like). Gary's sister was his best man and her husband Jim was my maid of honor! We had our matching "groom" T-shirts for the day after and our toasting glasses said "MR & MR"...

    Wedding

Thanks Bob, thanks for helping me with the link ... you know that I am not too computer saavy. It was an amazing time and more than we could have hoped for. Art, while the real estate there is beautiful, I couldn't afford to even be "poor" there! Staying put in LA until the next hurricane hits...

Never lock up a washer when there is a washer boy around

My Skinny Mini I have always been fascinated by this machine because it was so different from any other stack machines. It definitely had a better capacity than the ones that followed it (by WCI). It has a good turnover as long as they are not overloaded ... has to be powerful to roll the...

Parts needed for 1966 Rollermatic WCIK

May have some of what you need I know that I have purchased "spare parts" over the past few years for my 1965 Frigidaire and for the 1-18. I will dig through my workshop to see if I have anything that may help you. Will check in the next day or two. Take care. Todd

    Which compact stackable to buy?

Ariston Don't get the Ariston set! We put them in a new condo project (22 units). Washers did fine, but the dryers quickly started with problems ... increased noise, decreased performance and an even harder time getting service. After the fifth one, we decided to pull them out and put the combo...

    POD 3/3/08

Mine's still dirty! Yes, I did rescue one that looks alot like this one, but probably bottom of the line. All I remembered from it as a kid was that it had a "blue hat" on top of the agitator. My mother couldn't believe what I remembered from 30+ years ago. Mine does work; but sadly, I have not...
