    Coffee makers over the years

Interesting topic Here's pics of what we've had in our family (up to the Mr. Coffee) and then what I've had on my own up to the Cuisinart, which I think I've had 5 of them since they last just about 2 - 3 years. The glass Pyrex I still have and use occasionally on the weekends or when we have a...

    I guess my mom's house is "retro"now

I was just visiting my family in the Detroit suburb of Allen Park last week where I grew up and helping to take care of my 88 year old "Mother Unit" who isn't doing very well. We've owned the house for 40 years and I guess I never really thought to much of it but there's alot of retro things...

I've Had A Relapse: Fabric Softener

LOL.... love this post so humourous. I had the same headache reaction with Snuggle Blue sparkle. I haven't tried Downy Free and Gentle yet but I'll add it to the list. Currently, I picked up a Suavitel small bottle ($1.49 at Shoprite) to give it a try and I really like it. Leaves a pleasant...

    New concept window A/C?

Not sure if this popped up here, but I saw this on a news feed on FB. Looks kind of interesting...lets see if it pans out to something. http://https//www.kickstarter.com/projects/kurt/noria-cool-redefined

Modern GOOD window air conditioner thoughts.

I've had several window units that I've liked and some that I hated. I have a Haier Comfort Series in my bedroom that I like. Its super quiet on low and does a good job. Its about 10 years old though. I had a newer GE with the vent on the side, not across the top, that also was very quiet but...

    Who Still Irons?

Oh my,  I iron almost every day.  I do my own dress shirts for work,  lots of starch.  Sometimes if I'm in the mood, I'll do  weeks worth of shirts at a time and it does save time in the morning.  I did get away from doing it in the winter because I wear a v-neck Merino wool sweater over the...

    New Vinyl windows

That looks great Sam.  I like the "3 over 1" grids which is probably similar to what was there when the house was built....I'm guessing in the 50's sometime?   I'm in the process of finishing the last of the replacement windows in this house.  I've had 15 of them replaced so far and will be...

Lesson learned: If it'll fit in the Subaru with the seats folded down, GO GET IT!

Never a surprise what will fit in a Subie!!!  My 05 Outback has hauled home a Mobile Maid, a Maytag portable, 2 or 3 assembled gas grills, patio furniture, countless bags of mulch, rocks, a 50 inch flat screen, the list goes on and on.  My 15 Equinox is much larger but the cargo space is not as...

STILL looking for AFFORDABLE front loading washer & dryer with no electronics.

How about these.  Yes, electronics but I have a similar set that is 7 years old and never a problem with them.  They wash well, have a relatively short cycle time and you can't beat the price...

    LG Flagship TL Fail

I actually get angry watching these stupid top loaders "wash" clothes.  The slow dribble of water, the jiggling of the balled up clothes, the clothes never seem to move, all get my blood pressure up.  And 1 1/2 hour cycle times.  NO thanks.  I'll take my 7 year old front loaders anytime!

Still a small world My uncle was head of data processing for FJ. Not sure if you would have known him...Ed Oljace? Yes, next to the Gas Station.. a bunch a dive bars but somehow alway managed to have a good time.   Ah yes,  Backstage and Footlights... lots of good times there after the bars closed and went out for a bit to eat.  Then there was an Italian restaurant that opened down the street from...

    Snuggle fab softener and migraines?

Small world..  I grew up Downriver.. Allen Park to be exact.   Did I ever go to BackStreet?  Is the pope Catholic.  I was good friends with Carl the owner and my friend Roger was a bartender at "Pulse" the back bar.  My boyfriend was a bar tender at Back Pocket for many years. So the ritual was...

    Snuggle fab softener and migraines?

Michael, Yes, that's a U of M shirt.  I'm from Michigan, my family still lives in the Detroit area.  I didn't go to U of M but a lot of my friends did and I spent many many fun filled weekends and foot ball games there.  Ann Arbor was only 45 minutes from home so it was easy to pop out there to...

    Snuggle fab softener and migraines?

After rewashing everything and tossing the Snuggle Blue Sparkle, I felt much better.  Could have been just a coincidence, but I know now that smell will push me over the edge in the future.  Funny though, the dog still smells faintly like it,  I'll give hime another day or two and then he's...

    Snuggle fab softener and migraines?

My name is Jim and I'm a fabric softener user.  There I said it.😁   Nothing crazy, but I use a little with each load, except on towels. Usually use Downey but we had a coupon for snuggle and it was on sale so what the heck.  My partner did sheets  yesterday, and may have put to much in I don't...

    Ach! Mice..

That's to funny because I'm having a big mouse problem right now too.  But my mice seem to be the acrobatic type because I am finding droppings in the most unusual places....like the 3rd shelf up in the pantry (but not the lower 2),  on the stove top, behind the toaster etc.  Totally skeeves...

    Princess House Crystal

I have hosted Princess House parties several times years and years ago.  I still have lots of pieces,  Irish coffee mugs, vases, etc. I even have a set of their cookware with detachable handles!   My Mom's good china is Princess house from the 50's.... Sweet Briar I believe is the pattern...

    for front load experts:

You should be nice and do the research for them and present the  pro's and cons for each type and let them make their own decision.  That way, if they end up not being happy, you won't be blamed.   I have a front loader and love it.  Those wash plate top loaders actually make me angry watching...
