Hello to all aw members and to all frontload experts of the site how can i convince my brother and my sister in law that they would be better off buying a frontload washer dryer set and since my sister in law is smaller she could have the pedistal to put the washer = to her hight the problem with my sister in law is she wents one of those wash plate top load washer and she thinks i will do the research for them its not going to be the case i think my brother is ready to go with a front load washer dryer set but my sister in law thinks its better to have 1 ofg those wash plate models and i also think that my sister in law should take the time to 1 shopt and do her own research and read washers reviews, personaly i think if my sister in law is so key in washing everything in cold water then she would be better off with a wringer washer since she do not know that most washers had a bit of warm water even if the washer is set to cold water wash not tap cold like older model.

thank you to all memberd of aw

That is what we call a run-on sentence! Wow! haha ;-)

Some people just don't like FL'ers. Is room a concern for them? If it is, perhaps you could convince them to buy FL to save room since most can be stacked.

The newest top load HE machines aren't bad actually. The new GE one (the one that matches the new agitator models) looks to be a great machine...and you can add as much water as you want. Otherwise the upper level WP ones are good too.

I wouldn't sweat it too much...but mentioning the space savings might convince her to go with the FL'er.

If she is a short person a front loader would be easier without the pedestal to remove clothes. I am 6' and sometimes it is a tad bit hard to reach into the back of my front loaders. My opinion is to let people buy what they want and see how it goes. I have too much going on in my own life to give people help with their purchases, let them do their own research and make their own decisions. Rant over.

You should be nice and do the research for them and present the  pro's and cons for each type and let them make their own decision.  That way, if they end up not being happy, you won't be blamed.

I have a front loader and love it.  Those wash plate top loaders actually make me angry watching them try to turn clothes over,  just sitting there jiggling things and wobbling around.

Mine are 8 years old and never a problem and never a smell or mold issue.  I do leave the door  open between washes and my last load on wash days are bleachy whites and hot wash...i think this really helps.

thank you

Thank you why invest they have a good 20 year old still working direct drive 1993 kenmore washer they could have a tech check the washer restore it and they would be good for another 20 year the problem with my sister in law is that she is a bit stubborn the first thing she see she wents and she do not know that its impossibale to have a washer dryer set in a 1000$ budget unless looking at a model from last year or the year before production, in my opinion its no use suggesting or researching for them a fancy machine they wash everything in cold water so in my opinion they should stick to the washer they have. I have included a pic of there actual set washer is on the left

Tell her that a front loader is very forgiving if you accidentally place your favorite sweater in a load of towels and it did not pilled or damage the fabric because of poor sorting!
It happened to me and dye transfer is almost non existence because of the concentrated detergent at work!

Plus with the Electrolux, the Eco water temperature beats cold water washing by adding warm water to the wash so the powder detergents breaks down completely!

Show her these pictures:
The left hand towel was washed in my in Kenmore Electronic 90 Series washer (Top Loader).
And the right was wash in my Electrolux (Front Loader).

Keep in mind that I was using any brand liquid body soap that discolored these white hand towels and I thought my top loader really cleaned and when it comes to whites, the front loader just does an better job on them!

I would not move a finger for her

She reminds my of these unclear "I want all for nothing in return" customers (free sample hunters, manic product complainers to get a reduction, and all these). Besides she obviously refuses to learn (-> cold wash) yet she wants the full package of your knowledge (-> do all the research).

What if you did and she still refuses to learn? All in vain.

Don't make any effort, save your nerves.
Your mega phrase posting shows all the huffing and puffing and how you suffer from that.
It is not worth it. Stay cool.

Pierre...

I don't mean to offend you. These HE top load washers and dryers are the worst I have ever seen! How can you wash clothes in a few inches of water? You can't! You will be forced to use the bulky setting to get them remotely clean! You have to use HE detergent which still doesn't work! You have to run it 40 times even with using fabric softener on that designated setting! High Efficiency? Absolutely not! You can forget about washing super dirty clothes like blue jeans and overalls! They have too many electronics! The water is never hot enough! As for the matching dryer, they don't dry properly! They're just tumbling irons! You have to restart them constantly just to dry properly! Your sister-in-law will be very dissatisfied! I promise you! I'm done ranting!

ge4ever no need to worry i am not offended its my sister in law thats wents one of those fancy wash plate he washer she will see for herself how poor they are in term of cleaning why can't my sister in law realise that he top load or he front load makes no diffrence she would have a much better cleaning power with a frontload washer

i sympatise with the next owner of that direct drive washer

since they are selling there direct drive top load i can just imagine the bleaching the next user of that washer will need to do to remove all the mildew that must of build up in the outertub, sigh and whirlpof i so agree with you and thank you i think my sister in law should read consumers reports and chack the top 10 washer website. I do not mean to rant but if my sister in law is so keen on washing in cold water then no point in her and my brother buying a fancy washer they should stick with there direct drive machine. In my opinion that is

they will learn...

They will learn the hard way! Trust me! It is beyond me why anybody would use these types of so-called HE top load washers! What is most shocking is that people fall for the hype that HE top load washers clean better. They're nothing but pieces of crap! People have used them correctly only to find out that they didn't clean! Period!

well its not my washer me i am doing my home work and came to the conclusion if i want an he washer then i would buy another front load i think my sister in law and my brother should go washer dryer shoping and ask a sale clerck to see one of those so call he top load washer in action and they do not know that with some model the temp is auto they can not select it if they wash normal they can not select cold its warm water by default thank you again gelaundry forver

i do and i just had a tough my sister in law do not take proper care of her current washer as soon as the load is done she close the lid witch do not leave the water to evaporate if my mom and me where the owner of that direct drive kenmore washer i would leave the lid open always and i would have to run the washer hot water bleach no clothes to make sure that all germs are dead why can't my sister in law see that some time its good to use warm water or hot depending on what needs to be wash so whats the point of buying a fancy machine if she do not even use warm water wash or hot water wash i wonder
