    Sewing Machines

Defintely stick to the ALL METAL construction. You might want to find a free arm machine if you do alot of pants hemming. Otherwise, the older machines without a free arm are a little harder to do pants and sleeve hemming. (But it can be done, I do it all the time!) I have two vintage...

Avocado Kenmore set for sale in Wichita KS

I could easily get that set in Wichita. I live right by. It's just too bad I don't want them. Not old enough. Now if it was a set of '57 Frigidaires, I'd probably have to get it. No Avocado Kenmores for me. ~Tim

    Westinghouse Salt and Pepper Shakers

With nothing much better to do today, I went out to the antique shops. One thing caught my eye. A set of salt and pepper shakers in the form of a 1950's Westinghouse laundry pair. They were a real good price, so I picked them up. I didn't buy much today. Just the shakers and a Supremes: A...

    Footprint Calculator

I'm 4.1 planets. 25.8 global hectares. I'm not suprised at all. I don't participate in many 'green' movements or activities. Take recycling. I do recycle glass, but that's about it. I was doing plastic until the drop off site put up a sign saying they only take certain kinds of plastic and...

1958 Philco refrigerator, free to a good home

It's a pretty neat fridge. I like the aqua color scheme on the inside. Unfortunately, I'm a Foodarama guy, so this one isn't my cup of tea. Even at the price you listed, it's a pretty good deal, but free is even better. Somebody out there is gonna want this. ~Tim

    What Is Your Pre-Treater?

I actually don't get very good results from Clorox 2. As much as I dislike Tide products, I found their Tide Stain Release works much better. For me, at least. I rarely add it as an in-wash booster, because the Ariel I use does a good enough job by itself. I use it almost exclusively as a...

    Who thinks this is strange....

I have memories of the school bus. Living 'out in the country,' meant until I was 15, I rode the bus every day to school. The best seats you get if you're picked up near the beginning of the route. If you are near the end, or the last stop, good luck getting a decent seat. The 'cool' kids...

    Burke chairs

I am now the owner of a pair of swivel lounge chairs by Burke. I had absolutely no intention to buy them. I decided to clean out the guest bedroom. I wanted it to be an actual bedroom instead of my junk storage. I either donated or threw out the majority of stuff. Anyway, I wanted something...

***FREE***1954 Westinghouse Electric Dryer - Turquoise!!!

Boy o Boy! I'm not a Westinghouse guy, BUT that dryer is in such good shape, even I would take it! It would be inexcusable for someone to let this slip away. Ship to Kansas maybe? ~Tim

Picked up a Vintage Colour TV!

I like that 'tulip chair' style base. VERY mid-century modern. LOVE IT! ~Tim

Do you wear seat belts ?

I wear seatbelts. It has sort of become habit. It takes two seconds to do it. I see it all the time on the news or read it in the paper: 4 Dead, 1 injured in turnpike accident. "the four passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. None were wearing seat belts. The driver is at So-and-So...

    KDC-21 Custom Series

The three buttons to the left are wash selection buttons and the two to the right are rinse and dry options. Left to Right: Pots&Pans, Normal, Light/China, Rinse/Hold, Energy Saver No Heat Dry. I usually don't bother with the buttons. I leave it on Pots & Pans full time. And I use the no...

    KDC-21 Custom Series

I've got a similar machine. It's the KDC-21A. "Custom 21" With wood panels too. hehe. VERY well built machine. ALL METAL porcelain-lined tub. Two wash arms. Just have to watch tall items in the bottom rack. They must clear the upper wash arm. I bought it at the Habitat for Humanity...

    Shipping...

I usually don't have a problem. It does help that all the major shippers have hubs in Wichita, which is only 10 miles away from me. DHL, FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc. Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport helps speed along deliveries as well. I almost always have good results. Even stuff coming from the...

    machines considered vintage

I really have no idea which machines fall into what category. I, myself, use my own classification system for old appliances and things: 1948-1960 - Antique/Mid-Century 1961-1970 - Retro/Atomic 1971-1980 - Vintage 1981-1990 - 80's Retro 1991-present - No current classification.
