Yes, and O.S.H.A. did not exist yet. Of course if some companies and politicians had their way, it would be abolished now.

VMV has no counterweight. Nothing is heavy enough to require one. Like I joked before; Susy Homemaker.

My guess is production efficiency. A single piece of sheet steel folded to three sides instead of a separate front. Fewer fasteners. My aunt had a set with a gas dryer. A family of nine and they lasted until the late seventies. As my dad was a Sears service tech, she replaced them with Kenmore...

I didn't know why they're called Highlander models but I learned that on this forum. They have the chrome accent on the cabinet and a red agitator.

    Most Maddening Washer Commerical

Yes Matt, since our economy moved from manufacturing as a main cord to the service and technical norm. The union busting, and benefit slashing like pensions. Not that 401ks are bad, except when the economy and markets recede, so do they. The greed is also geared to investors and part of them are...

Do Dishwasher in "autoclean" mode know if it needs another rinse?

The only reason I can imagine an extra rinse would be needed is if you were washing a light wash load with only two rinses, and put detergent in both dispensers. Otherwise full cycles like normal, heavy, cookware or anti-bacterial all have 3 if not 4 rinses.

    Can anyone help?

Andi, I believe that most front load washers sense the weight of the load and add water as needed. More for rinses than the main wash though, which is fine. That saves on detergent. The wash tumble action isn't very harsh on clothing as long as you don't overload.

    GE Washers Exploding

The only hanging design exception being the old belt drive Whirlpool. The rods are thick and strong, and anchored in rubber snubbers held down by the corner angle braces on the cabinet. Then the heavy steel transmission, tub, and motor base provide self centering. It took more off center load...

my new and much more simpler coffee maker

Unplugging is safer, but then the clock/auto brew wouldn't work. We use it every day except Saturdays. The old Cuisnart had a main power switch. that didn't clear the clock.

    Vintage Kenmore 80 series

I believe so, and several Kenmore washers had the Extra rinse option.

Sometimes, there is grit in our coffee. Turkish or a French press sure is tasty, but a paper filter removes free radicals.

Our Cuisinart 12 cup combo. Keurig lasted us almost 8 years. The Keurig part died, so we just got a new one. Same 3 year warranty.
