    1958 lady Kenmore gas dryer

If the dryer still runs why part it out? Seems like you could take parts from other dryers to make a good dryer.

    KM BD lo dollar model

Although I thought Sears direct drive models were phased in the model line and by late 1986 were all direct drive. Could have been made in early 1986. Definitely all DD by 1987

    Westinghouse vehicles (1960s)

Westinghouse did have a vehicle that was like a Volkswagen bus that was electric back in about 1967. It was at the Westinghouse Museum but I don't know if that place exists anymore. Westinghouse did have a public bus replacement called Skybus that never happened but they did become the people...

    GE at our restore today

About in early 2000s I remember going into Home Depot and they displayed GE washers and dryers that appeared to be made by Speed Queen. GE should have just sourced their equipment from Speed Queen permanently, but Jack Welch probably put a stop to that.

    Modern Living: Part Eighteen

Actually, the system is hot water and never boils. All the radiators have both a supply and return, both pipes at the bottom of the radiators. The system appears to be 2 zones but controlled by 1 thermostat in the dining room, the original Honeywell Round thermostat. In fact, the thermostat...

    Modern Living: Part Eighteen

Oilomatician sounds like a new occupation Williams invented at the time. I wonder if any kids at the time wanted to be an "Oilomatcian" My sister has a house built in 1930 that had a coal boiler, later replaced with a gas boiler in 1948, she still has the boiler today. Yes, they like the heat...

Will This Microwave Work In My Kitchen?

Why do you want the convection if you already have an oven in your kitchen? Just go to Home Depot and buy the cheap Magic Chef microwave, after all, it doesn't seem like you take care of them. Why not just clean out the one you have?

    Parts for GE JVM1540SP1SS Microwave

What's wrong is that the oven has not been cleaned in a long time. I have also had success with spraying a lot of 409 or Fantastik everywhere and then press the 30 second button, there is enough liquid to make it hot and not do any damage and everything wipes off easily.

Over the range, microwave ovens, etc.

I think it would be great to have a microwave oven built flush into a wall, but you would have to have another room or closet behind the unit. I thought I saw one like that in one of the photos here of Christmas dinner.

Finally, a word of sanity about wash water temperatures

But what about odors? I have found that hot water is the only way to remove odors from fabrics, especially very dirty and smelly clothing and towels.

Normal Amount of Frost on Evaporator

The question I have is what happened to the "hot gas" defrost method where the refrigerator turns into a heat pump to defrost itself? Seems that would be more energy efficient than having electric heaters and would make even more sense today. Do brands maybe like Sub Zero or Viking do that?

The GE HydroWave: One of the worst washers ever

At the end of the 20th century, Kenmore had a washer called Resource Saver that did that. I don't know if it worked very well, though.
